                                    Travel to the mystical, unspoilt isles of Orkney and Skye for a wonderful adventure in Scotland%u2019s wild north, riding scenic railways, visiting Neolithic sites, and experiencing an authentic whisky tasting. 8 DAYS from%u00a32,029ppDays 1-2. A Highland rail journey from Glasgow to bonnie BroraThis holiday begins in Glasgow, where we meet our Tour Manager at the hotel. Glasgow is Scotland%u2019s largest city with a backdrop of elegant Victorian architecture. After checking in, there%u2019s time to explore before dinner.On Day 2 we journey by rail to Brora via Inverness. Travelling north, we glimpse picturesque lochs, rugged hills and ancient castles. After Inverness, we continue through the Highlands into mountainous scenery to Brora on the untamed coast. Leaving the train in this picturesque fishing village, we head to our hotel for two nights where we have dinner this evening. Days 3-4. Discovering Orkney and onwards to beautiful PlocktonAfter an early breakfast and departure from our hotel, today we experience Orkney on a full-day tour. Our coach takes us to Scrabster where we board a ferry to Orkney. Our tour starts at Stromness, known for its seafaring heritage. We then head to the impressive Churchill Barriers, a series of causeways built during World War Two to protect the fleet now connecting Orkney mainland with the isles of Lamb Holm. Next, we discover the Neolithic village of Skara Brae, the Standing Stones of Stenness and the enigmatic Ring of Brodgar. In Kirkwall, we see St Magnus Cathedral and explore the charming streets. We return to Brora by ferry and coach arriving back at our hotel for a late dinner*. On Day 4, we visit Dunrobin Castle and gardens, which overlooks the Moray Firth, where you can explore at your own pace. Inverness is our next stop where you have free time over lunch. We then join the Kyle Line, on a breathtaking journey to the village of Plockton, our next base. *Please note, the order of today%u2019s activities may change, depending on the weather. Days 5-6. Uncovering the wild Isle of SkyeToday we drive to the mystical Isle of Skye. Our first stop is Broadford, a riverside village where we visit a local wool spinner for a demonstration of this traditional island craft. We continue to Sconser where we catch the ferry to Raasay. On this small island we enjoy a tour and whisky tasting at the Raasay Distillery. There%u2019s time later to soak up the views across to Skye and the Cuillin Hills, before returning by ferry and coach to our hotel for dinner. On Day 6 we%u2019re bound for one of the greatest Hebridean castles, Dunvegan, which stands out against a dramatic backdrop of forest, sky and sea. After exploring the castle and gardens, we head to Skye%u2019s capital of Portree, with its pretty harbour of pastel-coloured houses, overlooking the bay and surrounded by hills. After some time to look around, visit the shops, and have some lunch, we enjoy a scenic drive along the coast back to Plockton, in time for dinner. Days 7-8. West Highland Line to Glasgow & homeward boundWe start our return journey to Glasgow this morning, travelling to Fort William by coach. There we join the wonderful West Highland Line, one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the UK, travelling south to Glasgow. This scenic route takes us past rugged mountains, Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, before the views change to urban landscapes as we approach Glasgow with glimpses of the city%u2019s iconic landmarks. On arrival, we return to our central hotel in Glasgow in the afternoon. With time before dinner, you are free to discover more of the city and enjoy your final evening in Scotland. On Day 8 your holiday comes to an end after breakfast. It%u2019s time to head home, or you may choose to stay longer to explore more of Scotland%u2019s sights on your own.
