Soak up enchanting Celtic heritage, relax on rugged coastlines, and journey through stunning landscapes on a charming exploration of the beautiful Isle of Man.6 DAYS from%u00a3849ppDays 1-2. To Douglas and the Snaefell Mountain Railway Your holiday starts in Heysham, Lancashire, where you meet the Tour Manager before boarding the ferry to the Isle of Man. On landing, a short stroll along the waterfront, takes us to our hotel, where there%u2019s time to settle in before dinner.Day 2 is a highlight of our tour %u2013 a trip to the summit of the island%u2019s only mountain, Snaefell. First we board the Manx Electric Railway for a picturesque journey, enjoying scenic coastal views on our way to the fishing village of Laxey. There, we board the Snaefell Mountain Railway - the only electric mountain railway in the British Isles. On a round trip, the railway takes us through rolling hills, beautiful landscapes and steep gradients to the summit and back. On a clear day it is possible to see England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Back in the village of Laxey you are free to explore, and could visit The Laxey Wheel, the world%u2019s largest working water wheel. We travel back on the Manx Electric Railway, where a short trip on a horse-drawn tram brings us close to our hotel. Days 3-4. The TT circuit and attractive towns of the Isle of ManOur first stop on Day 3 is Tynwald Hill in the village of St John%u2019s. Here, our coach joins the Isle of Man%u2019s famous TT racing circuit and with commentary from a former TT rider we drive along part of the route. Next, we arrive at the traditional fishing port of Peel, where we visit the 11th-century castle. With entrance included, take a self-guided tour of its chapel, dungeons, and towers. You could also visit the House of Manannan %u2013 a museum dedicated to the island%u2019s history and culture. Later, we re-board the Manx Electric Railway back to Douglas. In Douglas, you can return to our hotel at leisure, before dinner. Please note, the running order of Day 3 varies slightly for each departure date. On Day 4 we board the vintage carriages of the Isle of Man Steam Railway*. Our train chugs through idyllic countryside, past seaside towns and fishing ports before arriving at Port Erin, set in a beautiful bay on the southwest coast. We continue our scenic drive across the headland to see the Calf of Man, a small island at the southern tip of the Isle of Man, from a wonderful viewing spot. There%u2019s free time here, to soak up the wild beauty of the island %u2013 its craggy cliffs, windswept fields and rugged coastline. Arriving in Castletown at lunchtime, there%u2019s time to explore the ancient capital independently. Entry is included at The Old House of Keys where the Manx parliament used to meet. This 19th-century site is beautifully restored, with original furnishings, portraits, and documents on display. You could also visit the Castle Rushen, a magnificent fortress. We return to our hotel with time to relax before dinner.*Trains are steam-hauled where possible, however, due to timetable changes or weather conditions, heritage diesel locomotives may be running instead.Days 5-6. At leisure on the Isle of Man & homeward boundToday you are free to discover the island at your own pace. If the weather is warm, you could spend a relaxing day on one of the many stunning beaches. In Douglas you could wander down to St Thomas%u2019 Church, set back from the seafront at the heart of the town. If you are on the island in July, the annual Viking Long Boat Championship is held at Peel harbour, and this month also brings the island%u2019s folk festival. For nature lovers, a boat trip from Douglas to the Calf of Man is a must. Its wildlife includes seabirds, seals, and rare plants, so a visit to the island is a unique opportunity to connect with nature. This evening we gather for a farewell dinner at our hotel.
