Other very important factors to consider include information on their sensory processing behaviour, social and emotional wellbeing and other aspects of their communication (see Chapters 6 and 7).Example Stage 1 GLP resultsImmediate echolalia, single word gestalts and multi-word gestalts can be added together as Stage 1 Gestalt Language Processing.A transcript of 59 utterances used by child F is recorded.12 unintelligible utterances are recorded as part of the sample. These are not used in the analysis leaving a sample size of 47. Five single words recorded as unknown. As the source of these is unknown, the words cannot be recorded as single word gestalts or self-generated utterances. The five single unknown category utterances are included in the sample but not in the table. The remaining 42 are recorded in the table as follows.Immediate EcholaliaSingle Word GestaltsGestalts Gestalts Mitigated GestaltsMitigated GestaltsSelfgeneratedSelfgenerated4 3 35 0 0Number47Percentage(42 %u00f7 47) %u00d7 100= 89%The results show 89% of the sample is GLP Stage 1. The percentage of gestalts is over 80% and this indicates that child F is communicating at GLP Stage 1. If the results showed 50-80% or more of the utterances were at Stage 1, then the analysis would suggest that F was communicating at the GLP Stage 1 most of the time.Example GLP Stage 2 resultsA transcript of 54 utterances from child SR is recorded.Mitigated gestalts are being used and clearly identified so the mitigated gestalts can be quantified to give evidence of Stage 2.
