Welcome3As we welcome the new year, we bid farewell to a momentous one%u2014the 50th anniversary of our charity. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in last year%u2019s activities, whether by proudly wearing your pin badge, introducing a friend or family member to the charity, taking on a fundraising challenge, or supporting in other ways. You are all incredible, and we%u2019re pleased to share some of the highlights from the year on page 44.Although there was much to celebrate last year, we were deeply saddened by the loss of an important figure at the charity, our Patron Dame Maggie Smith, who had been with us since 2012. Our thoughts are with Dame Maggie%u2019s family and friends as we move into the new year without her.Thank you to everyone who responded to my call for ideas and submissions for Insight magazine. We have been busy planning the content for the year ahead and are excited to include many new topics you have requested. If you have more suggestions, please do get in touch by emailing insight@glaucoma.uk or calling us.On a personal note, I%u2019m delighted to share that this magazine reaches you just a few weeks before I hope to welcome a baby into my family. As a result, I will be taking temporary leave from the charity and will not oversee the production of the next few editions. However, I%u2019m thrilled to say that my brilliant colleagues will take turns in the editor role, ensuring a dynamic and exciting year ahead. I look forward to receiving the magazine at home, just like you. Finally, all that remains to say is a very happy New Year from all of us. We hope this year brings you joy and good health.
