The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE), which approves medicines for use in the NHS in England and Wales, published their approval for a new type of glaucoma drop. The last time a new class of eye drop for glaucoma was introduced was around 1996, pre-dating the formation of NICE. The new drop is called Roclanda, and it contains a new type of drop called netarsudil. It also contains latanoprost, which many of you may be familiar with. Netarsudil is from a family of drugs called Rho-kinase inhibitors. They work by improving the flow of fluid out of the eye. Roclanda is made by the pharmaceutical company Santen. %u201cRoclanda works in a different way to other eye drops for glaucoma
