  ST. BURYAN
UNVEIL NEW SINGLE, ‘WAIT FOR ME’
Sunderland pop-rock/indie outfit St. Buryan have just released their latest single, ‘Wait For Me’ - and it’s an absolute banger. The track is their first official release since 2020 - and it’s certainly one that’s been worth waiting for. It’s got everything you could want from an indie-pop hit, with a perfect mix of an infectiously addictive rhythm, lyrics that will be on repeat in your head for days and guitar riffs that will bring out your inner rock god. Reminiscent of the likes of The 1975 and Arctic Monkeys, St. Buryan are paving a path that you will want to follow. You can listen to ‘Wait For Me’ now on all major streaming platforms. DAVID LEWIS
GEDGE
AT GOSFORTH CIVIC THEATRE, NEWCASTLE
David Lewis Gedge, a legend of the music scene, has been writing songs and making music for many years now - and he is not planning on stopping anytime soon. He may be best known to audiences for being a member of the influential indie rock group The Wedding Present, where he is the singer, guitarist, principal songwriter, and the only ever-present member throughout the group's career. Since going it alone, Gedge has released his autobiography titled ‘Tales From The Wedding Present’ – a book any Wedding Present fan simply must own. This winter, he is heading out on his new solo tour to celebrate the second volume in the series, ‘Something and Nothing’. The follow-up to volume 1 ‘Go Out And Get ‘Em Boy’, is set to follow the life of the band and the experiences through the eyes of Gedge. The project sees David writing narratives along with his long-term musical associate, Terry de Castro. And once the stories are written, they are then illustrated and brought to life by virtuoso artist, Lee Thacker. This project has slowly and steadily been coming together for the past decade and will unveil David’s life and adventures upon the world. Some of these stories were previously only available to readers of the Tales From The Wedding Present comic book series but are now being broadcast in a 176-page book that features several extra never-before shared material and an introduction by the wonderful Craig Cash. Picking up from volume 1’s ending, this follow-up book will look at the release of the band’s first single in 1985 and then the following three years of the band's existence. It looks at the release of their debut album, early appearances in the UK and Europe and the development of their label, Reception Records. There are also stories of some experiences that may or may not have informed some of Gedge’s creations. For North East audiences, they can experience the Tales From The Wedding Present tour on Saturday 12th November at Gosforth Civic Theatre where de Castro will be interviewing David on the book and its contents. There will also be a 45-minute semi- acoustic music performance and the opportunity for an audience Q&A where fans can ask the questions they’ve always wanted to. For fans of Gedge and The Wedding Present, attendance is a must. GEORGINA SHINE
