Senior IAS officer Supriya Sahu appointed as Director General of
Doordarshan
Senior IAS officer Supriya Sahu was appointed as Director General of Doordarshan on 15 June 2016. She
will be the fulltime director general of the staterun broadcaster after two year as the post was lying
vacant since July 2014. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved to appoint Sahu for
the post.
Supriya Sahu She would replace Aparna Vaish who was acting head of Doordharsan. She was appointed after the
board decided to appoint the seniormost additional director general (ADG) at Doordarshan.
Ashok Lavasa appointed as Finance Secretary
Senior IAS officer Ashok Lavasa was on 31 May 2016 appointed as the Finance Secretary. Lavasa, at
present serving as the Expenditure Secretary, is a 1980 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre.
The post was lying vacant since April 2016 after the retirement of Ratan Watal. After retirement,
Watal was appointed as principle advisor, social sector, in the NITI Aayog.

Shahid Rasool takes charge as Director of Commonwealth Educational
Media Centre for Asia
Shahid Rasool, a communication technology specialist, on 7 June 2016 took charge as the Director of
the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA).
Rasool will guide CEMCA in its mission to ensure effective utilisation of educational media resources for
distance education.

He was earlier the Director of the Educational Multimedia Research Centre, University of Kashmir. He
earned his MS Degree in Communication Technology from Syracuse University and has a doctorate in mass communication
and journalism from the University of Kashmir.
S K Sharma appointed CMD of Nuclear Power Corporation of India S K Sharma
Renowned scientist S K Sharma on 23 May 2016 was appointed the Chairman and Managing Director
(CMD) of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). Sharma will be responsible for design,
construction, commissioning, and operation of nuclear power reactors. He has been appointed to the
new post for a period of five years.
At present, Sharma is working as Distinguished Scientist and Director (Operations) in NPCIL.
Ranu Langthasa Ranu Langthasa appointed as first woman Chairperson of NCHAC in
Assam
Ranu Langthasa was unanimously appointed as the chairperson of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous
Council (NCHAC) in Assam on 13 June 2016.
With this, she also became the first women chairperson to be appointed to the post since the formation
of Autonomous Council in 1950s.
