Cerebral Ischemia or Cerebral Infarction:
Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
Hemorrhagic
Aneurismal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
Hypertensive Hemorrhage
Underwriting considerations To evaluate the risk associated with stroke,
must consider the below points
Time elapsed since the episode
Cause (type ) of stroke
Severity of resulting permanent neurological impairment
Presence of underlying risk factors and co-morbid conditions (like
diabetes previous CAD etc)
Current status of activities of daily living (ADL)
Age at episode
Underwriting Epilepsy
Generalized Seizures
These are seizures that involve both sides of the brain simultaneously,
affecting,-, the whole brain, this includes the below
Grand Mal or Tonic-Clinic
Status Epileptics
Petit Mal or Absence Seizure
Partial Seizures: These are seizures that only affect a part of the brain at one
time. This includes:
Simple Partial There is no impairment of consciousness during the
seizure.
Complex partial epilepsy
Others
Febrile seizures: Febrile seizures are one particular type of seizure that
affects only children. These are defined as seizures that affect otherwise
healthy children who have no prior history of neurological disease or
previous seizures. And that occur during the course of an illness
associated with a high grade fever. These children do not have epilepsy
