(ii) There are some methodical duties of the insured
in case of a loss:
(a) Give a notice of loss to insurers as soon as
possible, to enable the insurers to determine the
cause and extent of loss, and deal with the
salvage.
(b) Submit proofs and particulars of loss along with the
completely filled up claim form. The burden of
proving the cause of fire and the extent of loss lies
on the insured.
The proofs may be in the forms of books accounts,
sales and purchase records, vouchers, invoices,
contractual arrangements with suppliers or
customers in connection with contents , claims ,
plans, estimates, specifications etc for building up
the claims.
(iii) The insured is required to make a declaration on
oath about the truth of the claim and of any matters
connected therewith. In practice however, this is
rarely insisted upon.
