insurers are not liable for the loss.
Q4. What are the duties of insurers in respect of
a claim?
Ans. There are several duties of the insurers in respect of a
claim :
(i) The insurer has to respond within 10 days of the
receipt of any communication from its policyholders
regarding guidance on the procedure for registering
a claim.
(ii) He has to check the policy status, whether the loss
is caused by the perils covered under the policy,
the items mentioned and the location, and the
insurable interest of the claimant.
(iii) Thereafter he has to register the claim and allot a
claim number for easy reference in future
correspondences.
(iv) A claim form has to be issued and given to the
insured for completion and return.
(v) If the claim is simple and can be easily established,
