(a) An accident and a disease may be in operation both
at the same time and it has to be decided whether
the result is caused by disease.
(b) If either accident or disease could have produced
the result, then a claim for the accident cannot be
admitted unless the proximate cause is an accident.
(c) The disease which produces the ultimate result
follows the accident and was not there beforehand.
In such cases the accident remains the proximate
cause.
(d) The disease promotes the accident but the injuries
are due to the accident. Here disease is the remote
cause whereas accident is the proximate cause.

Ans. There are three types of disablement covered
under the personal accident policy, they are as
follows:
