(i) Permanent total disablement -permanent total
disablement is of permanent and irrecoverable and
is absolutely total in the sense that the insured is
unable to engage in gainful employment of any kind,
for example, as in paralysis.
The loss of sight of both the eyes, or loss of two
entire limbs, or one entire hand and one entire foot,
or loss of one eye and one entire hand or foot are
also considered to be a permanent total disablement.
The loss of sight has to be total and irrecoverable or
at least it should be impossible for the insured to
recognise objects. Loss of limbs could mean physical
separation of the hand or foot above the wrist or
ankle or the loss of use of the limbs themselves.
(ii) Permanent partial disablement-this type of
disablement is permanent but partial, not total, for
example as in the loss of a toe or a finger. There is
a table showing the applicable percentage
compensation for various losses. This percentage
