I returned to India and got posted at an exceptionally large branch. He
was about to complete three years at Singapore and was ready for
transfer to India. The lady Manager selected for his replacement went
to join her husband in Canada who had migrated a year before. She
resigned from the bank. Now, this officer was the only one to be replaced
from Singapore Centre. Bank decided not to start another elaborate
process back in India to select his replacement and allowed him to
continue for one more year, something that had happened in the past
as well. During another year, after he was moved to main branch from a
satellite branch, he came in contact with larger customers and could
develop his relationships with those clients. When bank repatriated him,
he joined as General Manager of a large Singapore Trading company
controlled by Persons of Indian Origin. As per current information, the
ex-colleague is happily settled in Singapore not to return to India. All his
children also got married and settled there.
Prediction of my colleague's permanent stay overseas
When we were Faculty Colleagues at Staff College of the bank, this
colleague's wife had told during a family visit that when their only son
was born, a 'Fortune Teller' had predicted on his own, while preparing
his birth chart (Janam Kundali) that this boy would move to a foreign
country and would settle there. And this prediction had come true.
Revealing prediction of my non-permanent stay overseas
I had cherished the ambition for going overseas but had not been sure
enough to be able to go and settle there. When I got the news of my
posting at Hong Kong, my wife remembered one incident that one
fortune teller came to their house when she was a 5 year old kid. He
was talking to her parents and she was playing nearby. He carefully looked
at her feet and then the sole and told that she was very lucky and will
go to some foreign country though she may not settle there. My wife
now took all the credit of getting me posted overseas as she was declared
lucky in her childhood. I did not mind this at all. After all, I was moving
