85. Application of learning by others
also worked -A presentation in
Singapore
O ne of our senior functionaries told me once, "What you had
told the International Business Students in a special lecture, I
applied and it worked." He narrated, "My son had to visit
Singapore for a business presentation to major stakeholders
of a group company. This appointment was fixed after long and strenuous
efforts. His flight got rescheduled to arrive in the evening instead of
forenoon. He did not have any chance of making presentation by missing
his allotted time slot and wanted to cancel the air ticket as he would not
make it."
"I remembered that one should not reject one's own application oneself
and must put forth the justification for request to the concerned
authorities. Without telling my son about your story, I suggested him to
send an email to Singapore Company explaining the situation and
requesting change of time slot of presentation from forenoon that day
to morning of next day."
"My son did the same. He got the consent reply of the concerned
authority to make presentation the next day morning. He went to
Singapore and made a presentation that brought him great recognition
in his line of activity."
He added, "Later, I disclosed to my son that I had suggested you to apply
the learning narrated by one of my senior colleagues that really worked."
