Professor K C Arora, the author, has more than two decades of insightful
industry experience as a banker in India and abroad in senior positions.
He possesses excellent credentials of experience and expertise in banking.
He continues to be associated with the industry combining his earlier
practical experience with current pre-occupations focusing on theoretical
underpinnings as a full time Professor at BIMTECH. That he believes in
life-long learning is evident from the fact that he earned his Ph.D. in
Business Administration at the age of 60. All these make the contents of
           the book look very credible.

Using interesting and insightful encounters the author had, during his
banking assignments in India and Hong Kong as well as dealings with
banks as a Chief Finance Officer of a corporate in Singapore, he has nicely
weaved the story of "A Banker down the Rabbit Hole". The author has
presented a detailed account of tough conditions under which bankers
work to balance the interest of the organization and the expectations of
           the customers.

The book deals with diverse areas of relevance to bankers like
organizational risk management (the author brilliantly captures the usual
frauds committed by borrowers like showing repainted old machinery as
new one or over invoicing the value of machinery for drawing excessive
finance from the bank), perks and perils of being a banker, organizational
culture and work place dynamics and people and perception
           management.

The chapter on retaining value system under temptations assumes topical
significance in the context of serious questions now being asked about
bankers about their "nexus" with borrowers and their "middle-men". The
practical cases covered in the book, to a large extent, answer many
questions that may arise in the minds of freshly recruited employees as
