P. 21
Search console was reporting the internal links for one of our subsites., which leverage inner
linking primarily in the footer. In the 2-3 weeks after we launched the website, Google was
showing internal links for 4 sites in GSC and had indexed a massive amount of pages as well.
We were also seeing a high index rate in the public index, including duplicate content posts from
multiple sites. meaning the Google bot crawled and indexed those inner links too.
In these examples we used the archive.org free content method to produce the blog content. We
used fairly general content topics, essentially anything related to finance, money, savings, so on.
Based on what we have seen so far, it's safe to say that Google is definitely indexing and crawling
these pages and their inner links. We can also find them in the public indexby searching “site:
goapply.loan” and blog post title, so we can assume Google must trust the content to some
extent as well.
With multiple variable tests like this, it's hard to make any solid conclusions, which is why we
don't want to say anything definitive yet. We have seen some varying results depending on the
type of duplicate content and possibly even the topics used, which is why we are testing more.
There are some standalone websites on different URLs where we used the same process, as well
as testing other content methods, like duplicate content from ezine articles instead of archive.org.
