Bee A Freight Train tallied the fourth stakes win of his career in the $38,400 Autumn Derby at Grants Pass Downs on Oct. 9.
On a clear fast track, the sorrel colt broke on top and went wire-to-wire to secure the victory with a 1/2-length advantage. With Jose Guerrero in the irons, Bee A Freight Train traveled the 400 yards in :19.551, earning a 106 speed index - not far from the track record of:19.540 sent in 2009 by Eyez On Brimmer.
The $15,360 share of the winner’s purse increases the colt’s total earnings to $94,874 and the win improves his record to 9 firsts and 4 seconds from
15 starts. Bee A Freight Train is owned by Alberto Avila and trained by Mario Portillo. Bred in Utah by Darian Burt, Bee A Freight Train is out of winning Apollitical Jess mare N Bee C. The 2013 mare has produced 100% winners from two starters.
Javier Gonzalez’s Flagstaff (Favorite Cartel- Kingman Kin) challenged Bee A Freight Train throughout the race but was bested at the wire. The Hector Magallanes trainee finished second under jockey Noe Garcia, Jr.
Ridden by Jaime Lopez, Dash To The Flash T (Five Bar Cartel-Dash Home Deb) finished third for owner/breeder Jose Luis Torres-Arenas and trainer Freddy Ibarra. The gelding was a finalist in the Adequan Grants Pass Derby Challenge in July.

Gerald F. Kaul’s Yo Morning Delite broke sharply from the 6 post and rolled to a 1/2-length victory in the $81,400 Rock Springs
Wyoming Bred Derby for state-bred sophomores at Sweetwater Downs on Sept. 30.
Prepped by Tryston Matt, Yo Morning Delite covered 350 yards in :17.411. Shaunda Larsen rode the homebred gelding.
Yo Morning Delite was the fastest qualifier from his neck win in the fifth of six trials run Sept. 15. The gelding is out of lightly raced RS Afternoon Delite, she has produced 100% winners from three starters. In addition to Yo Morning Delite, she is also the dam of stakes winner Yo Brindis Delite.
Yo Morning Delite was running his win streak to five races, a streak that includes a 1/2-length victory in the $48,125 Wyoming Stallion Owners’ Derby at Sweetwater Downs on Sept. 2. Raced in two states, including Montana, the gelding has won 10 of 15 starts, and the $32,560 winner’s share of the purse from his second lifetime stakes victory increased his earnings to $84,800.
Makin Turtlemoves (JA Jess Perfect-Crash The Gates) finished second and banked $16,280 for his owner Wagonhammer Cattle LLC. Oscar Cervantes rode the sorrel gelding for trainer Jorge Garfias.
The Iron Chef (Flay-PT Eyes On Me) ran third, 1-length behind Yo Morning Delite, for owners Shannon R. Demler and Renegade Racing. Tyson Lusk rode the gray gelding for trainer Dru Hall.
Chasing Glock (Glock-Leading The Chase), Jess Pure Sass (Choctaw River-JLS Imaladynwaiting), Dirty Jan Boy (Dustin Pro-Antonios Jan), There He Goes (Glock-Separate Moves), Kcross Cuatro (RGR Jungle Jock-Caseys Six Pick), Vanellope (Flay-Black Carmel), and Sundancin Kid (Pappasito-Josie Bassett) completed the order of finish.

Diamond Dusting, a homebred 4-year-old gelding owned and trained by Rick Hillstead, won the $37,200 Rock Springs Wyoming Bred
Maturity at Sweetwater Downs on Sept. 30.
Ridden by Kody Kellenberger, Diamond Dusting
went 400 yards in :19.492, and his margin of victory was a nose over fastest qualifier ER Switching Mtns. The brown gelding earned a 110 speed index and the $14,880 winner’s share of the purse from his first career stakes score.
The gelding is out of winner Pritzis Diamond Lil, she has produced five winners from seven starters.
Campaigned exclusively in Wyoming, Diamond Dusting has won seven of 26 outs and he has banked $66,760. The gelding’s stakes resume includes third-place finishes in last year’s Sweetwater Downs Derby and Wyoming Stallion Owners’ Derby.
ER Switching Mtns (JR Dynasty Mountain-RM Switching Chicks) earned the $7,440 runner-up share for owners Elsha McGarry and Ross Brown, who also train the gray gelding. Juan Carlos Rivas rode ER Switching Mtns.
Jose Rico’s Classic Dynasty Dash (JR Dynasty Mountain-Steffiesclassic Dash) finished third. Jesus Valenzuela rode the 4-year-old gelding for trainer Kylie Valenzuela.
