Bitterroot Derby
ZOOM ON JESS

Idaho-bred Zoom On Jess began his career in his native state, but became a stakes winner at Los Alamitos. He returned to Idaho this summer and
added the $22,110 Bitterroot Derby at Pocatello Downs on July 31.
Zoom On Jess qualified the fastest on July 17 and with rider Eric Ayala aboard again went off as the 9-10 favorite in the final. Zoom On Jess broke on top, grabbed a 1/2-length lead, and made it a 3/4-length margin at the wire, completing 400 yards in :20.202, posting a 92 speed index.
Monty Arrossa trains Zoom On Jess for owners/ breeders Gary and Jeralyn Messenger. Last year, Zoom On Jess won the Idaho Cup Futurity at Sandy Downs and The Plan Handicap at Los Alamitos. He has placed in three other stakes.
Zoom On Jess is one of two winners in four start- ers out of the Messengers’ winning homebred mare Feature Miss Fame. The mare is out of Messenger- bred multiple graded stakes winner Go For Fame.
Mark Hanson trains second-place Sables Dashin (FDD Dynasty-Painted Sable) and third-place Thrill Of The Cartel (Favorite Cartel-License To Thrill). Nakia Ramirez rode Sables Dashin for owners RTM Stables LLC, Robin Dunn, and Larry Chapple. Sables Dashin won the 2019 Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge Stakes. Chapple is the sole owner of Thrill Of The Cartel, and Jesus Canales rode the filly, who last year won the Emerald Downs Juvenile Challenge Stakes.
Completing the field were Dashn Courage (Captain Courage-Special Truth), Sheza Tacy Gator (Tac It Like A Man-Sheza Gator), Brilliant Cut Cartel (Coronado Cartel-Azoom Diamond), VF Silverback (Ivory James-Perrys Folly), RTM Good Enough (Ivory James-RTM Say Your Prayers), Snowsa Flying (Coronas Fast Dash-Snow In My Corona), and Shidacious (Bocacious Dash-Shi D Anna).

FROG NATION

After several unsuccessful bids to qualify for stakes races in the past, Frog Nation jumped into stakes competition and won, taking the $53,202 Bank of America Pocatello Downs Championship Challenge on July 31 for owner/trainer Julio Corral.
Frog Nation had no trouble cracking the qualify- ing ladder for this race, posting the second fastest qual- ifying time after covering the 440 yards in :21.321. He posted almost the exact same time in the stakes final, finishing in :21.348 for a 116 speed index.
Frog Nation, who broke sharply from the 8-post, led by a 1/2-length at the first call, and never looked back. The gelding widened his separation at every subsequent call, sporting a 1-length lead by the time he hit the wire.
Frog Nation had rider Carlos Guillen Chacon aboard for this stakes winning trip. He reached the winner’s circle for the third time in 14 career starts, and the $24,472 payday increased his total earnings to $47,673.
Clarence Scharbauer III bred Frog Nation out of Thoroughbred stakes placed Our Girl Magic. She has produced 100% money earners from three starters. Frog Nation is her first stakes winner.
Walcott (Tee Cos-Jess Maganette), a winner of multiple stakes, finished second for Pedro Gutierrez Marquez. The Alejandro Chavez trainee had Mauro Salcedo in the irons. E Gmail (Hawkinson-Jess Another Ticket) placed third for owner/trainer Bob Pence. Tyson Lusk drew the riding assignment.
The remaining order was Secret Noble (No Secrets Here-Time For Noble), JT Easy Bug (Jess Got Easier-Miss Perry Bug), Kis My Bit (One Famous Eagle-Bits Of Bliss), Wagonfullofdividends (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Ms Athenas Dividend), Kool Odds (Favorite Cartel-Kool Kue Chick) and A Toast To Brindis (Brindis Por Cayenne-A Secret Life), who was disqualified from sixth to ninth.
Canterbury Park Derby
ZOOMN ON BYE

Zoomn On Bye continues to rack up stakes victories, collecting the fifth of his career in the $48,775 Canterbury Park Derby on Aug. 11.
The gelding got bumped at the break emerg-
ing from the 5-post, but jockey Ry Eikleberry kept Zoomn On Bye on course. A late surge propelled the gray gelding into the lead, and he hit the wire with a 1/2-length margin of victory.
Owned by B. Thomas Pick, Zoomin On Bye improved his overall record to 17-6(5)-5-1. The $21,949 prize from this event pushed his total earn- ings into six figures at $103,939.
Coming off a win in the Gopher State Derby on July 7 at this same track, Zoomin On Bye now has posted victories in stakes races at three tracks: Canterbury, Turf Paradise, and Century Downs.
Cory Rumsey trains Zoomn On Bye, who cov- ered the 400 yards in :19.925 for a 96 speed index.
Shady Lane Stables bred Zoomn On Bye and homebred his dam, Eyesa Chickin It Out, a 2004 mare who won two of 17 starts in her own racing career. She produced six winners from seven starters.
Tipsy Girl B (Hes Relentless-Devil Wears Prada B), the post-time favorite, finished second for owners Tom Maher and Paul Luedemann. Jason Olmstead trains the filly and Luis Valenzuela did the riding.
Another Olmstead trainee, VF Politics N Chicks (Apollitical Jess-Dashin Chick), placed third for Richard L. Tobin. Nik Goodwin was aboard the fastest qualifier from the July 28 trials.
Rounding out the order of finish were Sizzling Fajita (Apollitical Jess-Anita Fajita), HR Storm On In (Red Storm Cat-Scentsy), Royal Cash Flash (First Moonflash-Seis The Royal Cash), Little Bit Of Hero (Valiant Hero-Hanna B Jazzin), Celebratori (Corona Cartel-First To Celebrate), Midnight Moonlyte (First Moonflash-Midnight Sunlight) and AJ Quick Chick (Apollitical Jess-Hiclass Quick).
