HIGH ON CHABLIS
by Tracy Gantz
High On Chablis had been getting close in longer races, and in his second stakes attempt he got his first victory at 870 yards in the $26,648 AQHA
Canterbury Park Distance Challenge on July 7. Jockey Berkley Packer broke High On Chablis, favored at 2-1, from the outside post in the field of five, and they rushed up to take the lead. High On
Chablis stretched out his advantage to 4-lengths around the turn, while The Runaway Favorite bore out badly, nearly to the outside rail. No one could seriously challenge High On Chablis, who won by an easy 2 1/2-lengths in :46.336.
Clint Crawford trains High On Chablis for owners Jerry Blackmon, Mike Schau, and Connie Nobles. High On Chablis’ two previous wins
came at 350 yards and 440 yards in claiming company, the first at Canterbury and the second at Remington Park.
