Prairie Dash
DICKEY BOB
by Tracy Gantz
For the fourth consecutive year, Dickey Bob has won a stakes. In previous seasons, those victories have come at Canterbury Park in Minnesota, but
this time he won the $15,000 Prairie Dash Stakes at Prairie Meadows in Iowa on July 3.
The Prairie Dash is a mere 250 yards, and jockey Berkley Packer hustled second-choice Dickey Bob right to the lead after they broke in second. Though Mansory closed a little ground, Dickey Bob held him off to win by a neck in :12.997.
Jason Olmstead trains Dickey Bob, now an earner of $216,729, for owner/breeder Lunderborg LLC. Bred in Minnesota, Dickey Bob won the 2017 Minnesota Futurity; 2018 Bob Morehouse Stakes, Cash Caravan Stakes, and Minnesota Derby; and the Morehouse again in 2019.
Paint Or More, the dam of Dickey Bob, won the 2011 North Central QHRA Futurity and finished third in the 2012 Canterbury Park Derby. The mare has produced four starters, all winners, including PYC Jess Bite Mydust, a five-time stakes winner and earner of $259,627.
Jason Olmstead also trains second-place Mansory (Ivory James-Sinuous), ridden by Brett Birzer and owned by Summer Run Inc. Mansory finished third in the 2019 Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge Stakes.
Jorge Torres piloted JK Wildcat Red (One Dashing Eagle-Shaky Girl) to third. Kenny Laymon trains the 5-year-old JK Wildcat Red for owner Regina Laymon. Earlier this year, the gelding fin- ished second in the Mr Jet Moore Stakes-G2.
Double Eagle (One Dashing Eagle-A Southern Gal), First Of 15 (Apollitical Jess-Tinys Corona Queen), HTR Miamor Tequilla (Heart Of The Cartel-Sheila Tequilla) and Blaak Magic (Winners Version-Brooks Midnight) completed the official order of finish.

ENTREPENEWER
by Michael Compton
With Jose Meza aboard for owner Edwin Castillo and trainer Rolando Castillo, Entrepenewer, in just his second lifetime start, broke his maiden and joined the ranks of stakes winners with a determined victory in the $73,500 Rocky Mountain Futurity at Arapahoe Park on July 1.
The third-fastest qualifier for the main event after finishing second in his debut in the June 14 trials, Entrepenewer broke sharply in the 330-yard Rocky Mountain Futurity and raced in second position early. He surged to the front in the lane and fended off KB Apollitical Trump and jockey Ramiro Garcia to prevail by a neck at the finish line. In winning for the first time in his career, Entrepenewer stopped the timer in :17.275, earning an 87 speed index. The $29,800 winner’s share of the purse lifted his bankroll to $30,340.
Bobby Cox bred Entrepenewer out of winner Corona Edge. She has produced 100% money earn- ers from nine starters.
Runner-up KB Apollitical Trump (Apollitical Blood-Holland Dynasty) made the winner earn
the win, finishing just a neck behind. The sorrel gelding finished fifth behind Im Jess Good and Entrepenewer in his trial for owner Alma Olivas and trainer Uriel Delgado. The Louisiana-bred was a $10,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate.
Apollitical Splash (Apollitical Blood-La Burrita Splash) finished third under Daniel Valles for owner Victoriano Alvarez and trainer Jose Leonel Marquez.

Rocky Mountain Derby
FAVORITE ROCK
by Michael Compton
Favorite Rock earned the first stakes victory of his career in the $93,880 Rocky Mountain Derby at Arapahoe Park on July 1.
Ridden by Alejandro Luna, Favorite Rock broke alertly and assumed command shortly after the break of the 350-yard event. He was pressured the entire trip but dug in gamely to fight off all challengers, defeating Budderlicous and jockey Mario Delgado by a nose at the wire. Favorite Rock covered the distance in :17.763, earning a 91 speed index.
Owned by Hugo Barron-Sierra and trained by Jose Barron, Favorite Rock improved his record to 9-3(1)-0-0, and the $37,552 winner’s share of the purse boosted his lifetime earnings to $44,495. The fifth-fastest qualifier for the main event, Favorite Rock captured his trial on June 14 in much the same fashion.
Martha Wells bred Favorite Rock out of winner Firerock. She has produced 100% winners from two starters. Favorite Rock is her first stakes winner.
Budderlicous (Corona Cartel-Budder Think Twice) finished strongly and just missed for own-
ers Christina Flores and Cesar Nunez and trainer Roberto Treto. The bay gelding, who won his trial heat and was the 7th-fastest qualifier, is now multiple stakes-placed. Interesting Bar (Seperate Interest- Baccarat Bar), the co-fastest qualifier and race favorite, finished third under Daniel Valles. Denied a third straight win, Interesting Bar is owned by Jose A. Berrum Vences and is trained by Manuel Chavez.
