Dolls Prodigy Stakes
JESS UN SIES MAS
by Michael Compton
In the initial start of Jess Un Sies Mas’ 2020 campaign, the speedy 4-year-old gelding added to his already impressive resume at the Colorado track with a game
victory in the $15,000 Dolls Prodigy Stakes on June 30. A Colorado homebred for Hugo Barron-Sierra,
Jess Un Sies Mas raced in third position early. With Alejandro Luna riding for trainer Jose Barron, Jess Un Sies Mas hit his best stride in the lane and made a strong mid-race move toward the leaders. He poked his head in front and held on in determined fashion to defeat Kooler Wagon by a head at the finish. Jess Un Sies Mas stopped the timer for the 350 yards in :17.799, earning a 90 speed index.
Last summer, Jess Un Sies Mas annexed the Rocky Mountain Derby and Lucille Rowe Derby, both at Arapahoe, and now, all told, he has seven wins in 13 career starts. The $9,000 winner’s share of this purse increased his bankroll to $79,090.
Barron-Sierra bred Jess Un Sies Mas out of winner Seis Star Glitter, who was runner-up in the 2010 Mile High Derby at Arapahoe. She has produced 100% money earners from seven starters. Jess Un Sies Mas is her third stakes winner and top earner.
Kooler Wagon (Desirio-Beaus Wagon), making her stakes debut, jumped out to the early lead under jockey Jose Meza and just missed in a game effort for owner Alma Olivas and trainer Uriel Delgado. Multiple stakes-placed El Oh El (Apollitical Jess- Cute Ivory Girl), with Uriel Cervantes up, pressed the leaders throughout and finished third for owner George L. Seward and trainer Robert Johnson. DG Favorite (Favorite Cartel-Iza Sugar N Spice), Perkin Desire (Desirio-Fols Perky Cat), Jessinourbodgit (Jess Valentine-Barelyinourbodgit-TB), and Turbo Boost (Shining First Dash-Eyes A Cutie) completed the order of finish. Toshi Yoshi (Pool-Mairis Money Maker) was disqualified from 6th to 8th after break- ing in sharply after the start.

The gelding broke from the 9-post and quickly grabbed a 1/2-length. Calida put up a good effort, dueling throughout the 400 yards, but Dr Tool held on to cross the wire 3/4-length in front.
Dr Tool stopped the clock in :19.828 to earn a 102 speed index, and the $18,280 winner’s share of the purse boosted his total lifetime earnings to $78,230. Dr Tool was coming off a victory in the Weber Downs Derby Challenge in May.
Andy R. Caulo bred Dr Tool out of lightly raced Where Eagles Soar. She has produced 100% money earners from three starters. Dr Tool is her first stakes winner.
Calida (FDD Dynasty-The Fire Fly) ran second under Eric Ayala for owner Lex Fabrizio and trainer Monty Arrossa. The filly won last year’s Roche Equine Futurity.
