WH Kenny G scored his first stakes victory in the $52,900 Bradford Stakes at Indiana Grand on July 8.
The gelding broke fourth from the 2-post and took the lead by the first call. Aboard for the first time, Harold Collins and WH Kenny G held onto the lead and crossed the wire a neck in front of the pack. WH Kenny G stopped the timer at :19.778 to earn a 96 speed index.
The first place money worth $29,095 pushed
the sorrel gelding’s bankroll to $202,488 for a race record of 8(1)-1-4(1) from 18 starts, including a third in last year’s Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes. His connections include owners Ronald G. Brown, who also trains the gelding, and Robert A. Ray.
WH Kenny G was bred in Indiana by Ken & Reba George out of 2-time winner Designer Dash. The mare, who won the 1995 QHBC Sunbelt Futurity, has produced 12 starters, including stakes winner Stars Falling and Oklahoma Hi-Point 3-Year- Old Colt Chicks Dash Easy. WH Kenny G is second stakes winner and top earner.
TF Jess A Leader (Mr Jess Perry-TF Ms Special Perry) finished second under James Flores. The geld- ing’s connections include owner Jose M. Chavez and trainer Sacramento Chavez.
Jess A Dollar (One Sweet Jess-Lass To Know) finished third for owner Yesenia G. Aguirre and trainer Sacramento Chavez. Jose Davila was han- dling the reins.

HEZA LOUISIANA DASH

Heza Louisiana Dash ran his current winning streak to three with a game, come-from-behind score in the $100,000 Louisiana Classic-RG2 at
Delta Downs on July 8.
Ridden by Gilbert Ortiz, Heza Louisiana Dash
raced in 6th position early. He rallied strongly on the outside through the lane and got up in the final strides to win the 440-yard dash by a head as the odds-on favorite. He stopped the timer in :21.519, earning a 102 speed index. Kenneth Roberts, Sr. saddled the 5-year-old gelding for Steve Holland’s T M Ranch.
The $60,000 winner’s share of the purse increased Heza Louisiana Dash’s bankroll to $477,641, a nice return on his $52,000 purchase price at the 2013 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders’ Association Yearling Sale. The win improved his record to 12(6)-6(6)-3(1) from 23 starts, that include three graded stakes wins this year at Delta.
Bred in Louisiana by Jumonville Farms/Burnett Ranch, Heza Louisiana Dash is out of 2-time win- ner/100% money producer Eyejesslovelouisiana.
Roberts also saddled the runner-up Jes A Fast Dasher (Heza Fast Dash-Jes A Game). David Alvarez piloted the 2nd-place finisher for owner Tony Doughtie. Jess A Saint (Jess Louisiana Blue- Laughing Saint TB) and Santiago Mendez pressed the pace throughout, crossing the line in third in the blanket finish. Jess A Saint is owned and trained by Miguel Rodriguez.
Who Jack (Jumpn-Paradise Jayne), Strong Guns (Strong Hope-Gunslinger Girl), Coronas Statement (Mighty Corona-Tonyas Statement), Heza Bell Perry (Heza Fast Dash-De Bell Perry), Icanonlyemagine (Swingin Jess-Real Or Imagined), JLS Dashn And Zoomn (Sire Runaway Dash- Shaken Thru Zoom) completed the order of finish. Magic Black Jack was scratched.
Flying Breed Stakes
MAGIC BLACK JACK

History was made on July 8 at Delta Downs. Magic Black Jack set the World Record at 220 yards with his blistering run to victory in the
$50,000 Flying Breed Stakes.
A 4-year-old gelding, Magic Black Jack finished
the race in :11.466, surpassing a World Record that had stood for the past eight years. The previous mark of :11.493, was set on April 10, 2009 by Travel Plan at Los Alamitos.
Martin Trejo trains Magic Black Jack, who had Everardo Rodriguez aboard for the record-setting run. The gelding won by daylight, reaching the finish line sporting a 1-length margin of victory and posting a scorching 118 speed index.
Ana Alvidrez owns Magic Black Jack, and banked a $30,000 payday that improved the geld- ing’s total earnings to $214,846. Magic Black Jack now has won five of his 10 races, two of them in stakes company. He also holds a victory in the 2015 running of the Mardi Gras Futurity-RG2.
Willie Salard bred Magic Black Jack out of lightly-raced Stoli Alikat, who has produced four starters among six total offspring.
Each of the top four runners in the Flying Breed beat the standing track record at 220 yards-a time of :11.741 set in June of 2015.
Heasablackmagic (Jet Black Patriot-Toast Of Magic) was 2nd under Jesse Levario for owner Yiret Duran & trainer Telma Loya. Sweet Bru (Embrujo FG-Dashin Sweetpea) was 3rd under Ricardo Hernandez, Jr for Jagger Horse Racing and trainer Gary Mason. Cute Mic Jagger (Oak Tree Special- Shannons Fame), Scoopies Leaving You (Coronas Leaving You-Ms Scoopies Toast), Big Daddy Bux (Zoomin For Bux-Run Abby Run), GT Divalicious (Agouti-The Village Witch), Tellem Im Pumped (Stoli-Pump It Teller) & Heza Fast Wokatee (Heza Fast Dash-Wokatee). Punctuality was scratched.
