by Tracy Gantz
Trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr. completed the exacta with the two horses he saddled in the Live Oak Stakes at Delta Downs on July 8. He won with odds-on favorite, B And G Fast Dash and finished second with third-choice Dashing With Courage.
For the early part of the 870-yard Live Oak, it was a battle between the two stablemates. B And G Fast Dash broke in second and quickly took command. Dashing With Courage got to within a length, but jockey Donald Watson brought home B And G Fast Dash for an easy win, scoring by 3 1/2-lengths in :45.973.
B And G Fast Dash was winning his second consecutive Live Oak Stakes, and he also won last year’s Faubourg St. John Stakes. The $30,000 win- ner’s share of the $50,000 purse pushed his cumula- tive earnings to $180,870.
Mo Racing owns B And G Fast Dash, and B
& G Group Investments Inc. bred the gelding in Louisiana from Rita Regent. The mare has produced six winners in eight starters, including 7-time stakes winner and top earner La Mos Chingono.
Donell Blake piloted Dashing With Courage (Jess Louisiana Blue-Faith And Courage) to second for Roberts and owner Douglas Traylor. The 5-year- old gelding was coming off an allowance victory.
