La Villita Stakes
JP IN HEAVENLY GLORY
by Danny Camp
Only five Texas bred fillies lined up for the $15,000 La Villita Stakes at Retama Park on July 22.
It has been over a year since JP Heavenly Glory visited the winners circle, but she was equal to the task this time. The filly stepped away from the inside gate in second and took the lead by 1-length at the first call. With rider Luciano Duenez in the saddle, they held on for a driving finish, crossing the wire
a neck in front and stopping the clock in :17.165 for the 330 yards, earning a 91 speed index.
JP Heavenly Glory also earned first place money worth $9,750 and boosted her cumulative earnings to $19,009. The filly now has a race record of 2(1)- 3-1 from 12 starts.
Owned by Gabriela Saucedo, this was the first out for JP In Heavenly Glory with Jose Sanchez as the trainer.
JP In Heavenly Glory was bred in Texas by Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm LLC out of lightly- raced JP Straight Shot. The mare has produced 100% ROM/money earners from two starters, including Little Debbie D, who was a finalist in this year’s LQHBA Lassie Futurity-RG2 at Delta Downs. JP In Heavenly Glory is the mare’s top earner and first stakes winner.
Fancy Mamacita (Pappasito-Ace Zoomin) was outfinished and placed second under Nestor Duran The filly is owned by Isabel Huitron and trained by Eusevio Huitron.
Here Comes Callan (Fantastic Corona Jr-Evans Express) was tardy at the break, but made up enough ground to pocket third place money. The filly is owned by Arturo Morales and Ramon Salinas Jr. and trained by Jose Sanchez. Eddie Sanchez was up.
Zippen Bok (Boknaai-Shake Em Shiney) finished fourth. Tres Seis Game lost her rider after a stumbled break. JMF Dangerous Corona was scratched.

by John Moorehouse
An 8-1 longshot, Rock A Billy surprised by win- ning the $56,520 Zoetis Albuquerque Distance Challenge on July 23 at The Downs at Albuquerque. With the win, the four-year-old gelding owned by Rockin J Running Horses qualified for the AQHA Distance Challenge Championship-G1, which will be run Oct. 14 at Prairie Meadows.
Trained by Tammy Johnson and ridden by Luis Rodriguez, Rock A Billy broke from the 6-gate and was part of a four-wide battle for the lead head-
ing into the turn. Rock A Billy asserted himself down the straightaway, running second by a strong 3-lengths going into the stretch and then chasing down Fire Thorn to win by a 1 1/4-length margin.
The stakes-winning trip, the first in his career, took :44.475 to complete and registered a 98 speed index. The gelding banked a $27,695 prize for this triumph, boosting his total bankroll to $63,770.
Rockin J Running Horses home-bred Rock A Billy and his dam, 2-time winner Imaginiff, who has foaled 100% winners from three offspring. Rock A Billy becomes the second stakes winner in the brood, join- ing full-brother and top earner Jess A Hillbilly Bone, 2-time stakes winner who finished third in this race and whose record includes a victory in the Remington Park Distance Handicap-G2 earlier this year.

Jess A Hillbilly Bone (Rock Solid Jess- Imaginiff) finished third and is also owned by Rockin J Running Horses and trained by Tammy Johnson. Benito Baca was in the irons.

Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity
MR ELEANOR
by Emily Blankenship
Mr Eleanor made it look effortless as he scored his first stakes win in the $40,206 Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity at Northlands Park on July
19. Despite the hazy weather, Mr Eleanor had his sights fixed on the finish line as he broke from the inside gate in the lead under jockey J. Botello. Racing for owner/breeder Teagan Goodsell and trainer Allen Goodsell, Mr Eleanor was never headed. The gelding had a 1 1/2-length lead at the first call & crossed the wire an impressive 2 1/2-lengths in front.
The 2-year-old bay gelding clocked in with a time of :16.691, posting a career-best 103 speed index. Mr Eleanor took home the $18,462 winner’s share of the purse, boosting his lifetime earnings to $22,639. He has won or placed in three of his four starts.
Teagan bred Mr Eleanor in Lethbridge, AB, Canada, out of unraced Lets Get Going, a half- sister to Creston Goer, winner of the 2012 Kaweah Bar Handicap-G3, and Go And Dash, runner up in the 1999 California Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG2. Lets Get Going has produced 100% winners from two starters, including graded stakes placed Kiddys Down. Mr Eleanor is her first stakes winner and top earner.
