I DELIVER
by John Moorehouse
IDeliver did just that on July 4, winning the $28,400 Grants Pass Firecracker Futurity. This vic- tory was hardly a surprise for the gelding. I Deliver
entered his first-ever stakes race as the fastest quali- fier from the June 18 trials, and was the favorite at

SUPER STARR
by Michael Compton
Dan Moon’s Idaho homebred Super Starr became a stakes winner July 22nd, rolling to an impressive 1-length score in the $19,125 Idaho Cup
Futurity at Sandy Downs.
With regular pilot Cordarelton Benn in the irons
for trainer David Greene, Super Starr darted to the lead at the break, quickly establishing a 1-length advantage over eight rivals in the 350-yard contest. The gelding maintained a clear lead through the lane and defeated The Bossgirl by 1-length for a wire-to-wire victory in :17.654, earning a career best 98 speed index.
It was the first stakes win and third victory overall from six lifetime outings for Super Starr, who now has earnings of $12,718. The brown gelding finished second in his July 4th trial heat after get- ting run down right at the wire for the fifth fastest qualifying time.
Super Starr is homebred out of 2-time winner All Star Elite. She has produced two winners from three starters. Super Starr, her first stakes winner and top earner, also was 2nd in the Roche Equine Futurity
at Jerome.
Fastest quaifier The Bossgirl (Class Jump- Fanny B) finished second despite drifting in throughout. Nakia Ramirez rode the filly, a winner of her trial, for trainer Monty Arrossa and own-
ers A-Arrow Ranch. Martin Gomez’s Miss Czech (Ragazzo-Czech Royal Camilla) finished third with Jesus Virgen riding for trainer Fredy Olmos. The brown filly was the third fastest qualifier.

IQHA Idaho Cup Derby
A CARTEL HUSTLE
by Michael Compton
ACartel Hustle once again displayed his affinity for the track surface at Sandy Downs in Idaho Falls, ID, with an effortless 1-length score in the $15,237 Idaho Cup Derby on July 22.
Winner of last year’s Idaho Cup Futurity over the Sandy Downs strip, and a winner in three of six starts over the surface, A Cartel Hustle promptly justified his odds-on favoritism in the Idaho Cup Derby over his favorite track.
Ridden by Jesus Canales, A Cartel Hustle enjoyed a clean trip from start to finish. He grabbed the lead soon after the start from the 6-gate and sailed home as much the best. He stopped the timer in :19.556 for 400 yards, earning a lofty 103 speed index.
Trained by Mark Hanson for RTM Stables LLC, Larry Chapple and Dick Wasia, A Cartel Hustle is now a winner in five of 11 lifetime starts and boasts earnings of $36,891.
A Cartel Hustle also finished second in the 2016 Rocky Mountain Spring Classic at Pocatello Downs. The Idaho homebred is the lone starter for lightly raced Mothers Gift. The mare has one other foal that is a yearling.
Stakes winner One Sweet Fool (One Sweet Jess-Gigarad) finished second under Nakia Ramirez for trainer Jay Pitcher and owners Kirk Woolf and Ralph Hartline.
JS Blaze Away (Agouti-Judging Julie) rallied late for third place under Daniel Carillo, who rode the sorrel gelding for owner-trainer Jeff Steadman.
CM Partners In Crime (Ivory James-Im Special Star), Rumpled Britches (Royaltys Choice-Bye Sweet Girl), A Stubby Corona (The Louisiana Cartel-Sign of Pride), La Formenta (Never Tell-Dealin Corona), Kipassured (Kipas Special-Jess Assured) and Jess Vista Swingin Jess-Osceola Vista) followed. Fames Dash was scratched.

After covering his 350-yard trial in :17.663, I Deliver broke well from the 3-gate, led by a head going into the stretch and then out-nodded L Bar
D Classic Trip at the finish line. Trained by Hector Magallanes and ridden by Eduardo Gutierrez-Sosa, Deliver completed the futurity in :17.666, posting a career high 103 speed index and collecting an $11,360 payday that improved his bankroll to $13,642.
The trial and futurity represent the two wins to date for I Deliver, who has made four total outs thus far for owner Chris Philbrook.
I Deliver joins his dam, 2-time New Track Record setter Go Girl Gone, in blacktype. Setting two New Track Records at Sun Downs for 400- yards, Go Girl Gone won two stakes events during
a competitive career that included two appearances in AQHA Challenge Championships, six total victories and nearly $105,000 in prize money. Her stakes victories include the 2006 Northwest Juvenile Challenge-G3 at Les Bois Park and the 2008 Northwest Distaff Challenge at Sun Downs.
Michael and Shannon McKay bred I Deliver and own Go Girl Gone, who has produced 100% money earners and three blacktype runners from five starters. Her top earner, Eagle B Gone, has won three stakes races, including the 2013 Firecracker Futurity at Grants Pass, the 2013 Pot O’ Gold Futurity at Sun Downs and the 2014 Portland Meadows Fall Derby. Northwest Hi-Point Claiming Horse Diva Be Gone is the mares stakes-placed runner and finished second in the 2014 Baxter Andruss Oregon Bred Futurity.
Another Magallanes trainee, L Bar D Classic Trip (Mr. Nightlinger TB-Be First Rose) finished second under Osvaldo Gonzalez for owners Herman Torres and Chris Carpenter. Warhock (Zoomin
For Bux-Copa Show Girl) finished third under Jose Figueroa for Freddy Ibarra, who does double duty as owner and trainer.
