   Bertha S. Irigoyen’s Jess A Satin Flash out- ran his 13-1 odds to win the July 25, $50,000 Zia Handicap-RG2 for New Mexico-bred Quarter Horses at Ruidoso Downs.
Ridden by Adrian Ramos for trainer Rene Saucedo, Jess A Satin Flash went 400 yards
on a muddy and sealed track in :19.948. Champion First Moonflash earned an 88 speed index and the $30,000 winner’s share of the purse.
Jess A Satin Flash was bred by Mike Abraham. The gelding’s sire, First Moonflash, was the 2009 AQHA Champion Aged Stallion. Racing from 2007-09, the son of Champion First To Flash earned $969,828 from 25 races, and his 14 wins included 10 graded stakes.
First Moonflash has sired the earners of more than $19.5 million from eight crops, including AQHA Champions Flash And Roll, Handsome Jack Flash, and Foxy Moonflash, and Grade 1 winner Too Flash For You. The stallion died due to complications from lamini- tis in May 2019.
A $60,000 yearling purchase at the 2014 New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs, Jess A Satin Flash is out of Jess Satin, a winning and stakes-placed daughter of 1994 AQHA Champion 2 Year Old Mr Jess Perry and a finalist in the ’04 All American Futurity-G1. His second dam, Send Me First, won the 1996 AQRA Turf Paradise Futurity-G3.
Jess A Satin Flash has won nine of 38 races, including four of 13 at Ruidoso Downs and three of 10 at the 400-yard distance, and he has earned $184,572.
No Mires A La Luna finished second,
a head behind Jess A Satin Flash, and was followed by Daddys Wine, Eyes On Mollie, Woodys Copy Cat, Wahene Version, Jess To Reel, Magnifico Dragon, 5-2 favorite Diamond And A Half, and Siximoons.
No Mires A La Luna is a homebred 4-year- old First Moonflash gelding owned by Byron Woodard and David G. Valdez. No Mires A La Luna has won two of 16 starts, including last year’s 400-yard, $198,000 Zia Quarter Horse
Derby-RG2 at Ruidoso Downs, and he has banked $413,452.
Daddys Wine earned $5,000 for his owner, El Paraiso Racing Stables LLC.
A $50,000 purchase at the 2017 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, the gelded son of Big Daddy Cartel has won three of 22 outs and has earned $70,163, and his record includes a third-place finish in the 2018 By By JJ Stakes-R for New Mexico-bred juveniles at Ruidoso Downs.
Laugharoo is a homebred Laugh Track filly owned by Mike Carson. A $10,000 claimer during the 2019-20 Sunland Park meet, Laugharoo has won one of nine starts and has earned $29,978.

won nine of three outs, including the
Jan. 18 La Señora Stakes, and she has banked $124,510.

  Tight Fittin Jeans scored a wire-to-wire, 1 1/2-length victory in the July 25, $50,000 Sierra Starlet Handicap-R for New Mexico- bred 3-year-old fillies.
Racing for Delinda M. Green, Corie O’Connor, and trainer Greg Green, Tight Fittin Jeans went 5 1/2 furlongs on a muddy and sealed track in 1:04.46, after setting frac- tions of :21.47 and :44.55. Francisco Amparan rode the homebred bay daughter of Shame On Charlie, who earned a $30,000 check from her first stakes win.
Tight Fittin Jeans is one of 16 winners
from 21 starters sired by Shame On Charlie, a winning 16-year-old son of the In Excess (IRE) stallion Indian Charlie. Racing in New Mexico and California from 2006-2010, Shame On Charlie earned $22,417 from 13 starts.
Shame On Charlie has sired the earners of more than $999,000 from five crops, includ- ing Shug’s Hope, the winner of the 2015 C.O. “Ken” Kendrick Memorial Stakes-R at SunRay Park. A full brother to 2007 2-time Champion Indian Blessing
Tight Fittin Jeans is also the first starter out of Curvy Kitten, a winning daughter of Ministers Wild Cat. The filly’s second dam, the winning Distorted Humor mare Curvy Cat, foaled Curvy Cat, a full sister to Curvy Kitten who won the 2013 B. Thoughtful Stakes-R for California-bred fillies and mares at Hollywood Park.
Tight Fittin Jeans traces back to her fourth dam, Venetian Fleet, a daughter of Afleet who won the ‘93 CERF Handicap-R at Hollywood Park and was a half sister to My Habitony, the winner of the 1983 Silver Screen Handicap-G2 at Hollywood Park.
Raced exclusively in New Mexico, Tight Fittin Jeans has won three of five outs and has earned $89,960, of which $68,360 has been banked from four races this season. The filly began her sophomore campaign with a second- place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Two Stepper, in the 6-furlong, $100,000 La Señora Stakes (R) at Sunland Park on January 18.
Laugharoo finished second and was followed by Two Stepper, Last To Blush, Reception, Shugs Charlie, and Selfish Woman.
