  Waltzing Attila earned a wire-to-wire, four- length victory in the July 26, 6-furlong Lincoln Handicap-R for New Mexico-bred fillies and mares at Ruidoso Downs.
Trained by Nancy Summers for owners Wesley and Glenda Gray, Waltzing Attila set fractions of :22.30 and :45.38 before reach- ing the wire in 1:10.42 on a sealed track officially labeled “good.” Luis Negron rode the homebred 6-year-old Attila’s Storm mare, who earned the $30,000 winner’s share of a $50,000 purse.
Waltzing Attila was making her first start since October 27, when she scored a half-length victory as the odds-on favorite in the 6-furlong, $145,000 New Mexico Cup Distaff Sprint Championship-R at Zia Park. The mare is one of 22 black-type stakes winners from 10 crops sired by Attila’s Storm, a Grade 3-winning 18-year-old son of Forest Wildcat.
Attila’s Storm has sired the earners of more than $12.7 million from 221 starters, including multiple stakes winners Reaper and Forger. The stallion is owned by Jimmy Vasquez and Scott Branson, and he stands at
W.L. and Dee Mooring’s Double LL Farms at Bosque, New Mexico.
Waltzing Attila is one of two winners from as many starters produced by Super Sister,
a homebred unraced daughter of the Saint Ballado stallion Your Eminence. Her third dam, the unraced homebred Rinoso mare Liberated Sister, foaled Highland’s Best, thhe winner of the 2007 New Mexico Cup Sprint Championship-R at Zia Park.
Raced exclusively in New Mexico, Waltzing Attila has won eight of 21 outs and has banked $391,863, and her four career stakes victo-
ries include the 2016 New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity-R at Albuquerque Downs, and the ‘17 Sierra Starlet Handicap-R at Ruidoso Downs.
Let It Roll finished second and was fol- lowed by Flight Song, Beautiful Bounty, Ballinouttacontrol, Wedding Dance, Pink Cadillac, Sofia’s Gift, I’m A Dancin Who, Shug’s Best, and Lady Black Jack.
Let It Roll is a 4-year-old Roll Hennessy Roll filly owned by B4 Farm LLC. Let It Roll has won three of 21 races, including last
year’s Carlos Salazar Stakes-R at Albuquerque Downs, and the $10,000 runner-up share of the Lincoln Handicap purse pushed her earn- ings to $207,868.
A 4-year-old Attila’s Storm filly racing for Pierre and Leslie Amestoy and Roger K. Beasley, Flight Song banked $5,000
for her third-place run. Flight Song has earned $188,223 from 14 outs, and her five wins include last year’s Petticoat Stakes-R at Albuquerque Downs and Sierra Starlet Handicap-R at Ruidoso Downs.
Effort N Results was making his first start since Feb. 23, when he scored a three-quarter length victory in the Red Hedeman Mile. Racing for Terry B. Adams, the homebred gelding has won two of five starts and has banked $101,860.
Shame On Powers has earned $168,375 from 13 races for his owners, Jimmy Powers and Rebecca Powers. A bay son of Shame On Charlie, the gelding has won four races, and his two stakes scores include last year’s Rio Grande Señor Futurity-R.

The 2-1 favorite in a field of 10 New Mexico-bred 3-year-olds, Cerveza rallied to win the July 26, 5 1/2-furlong Road Runner Handicap (R) at Ruidoso Downs.
Cerveza defeated 9-1 longshot Effort N Results by 2 1/2 lengths in 1:04.19 on a sealed track officially rated “good.” Luis Fuentes rode the homebred son of Attila’s Storm for owners Joan Dale Hubbard and Paul Blanchard and trainer Todd Fincher.
Cerveza is one of 164 winners from 220 starters sired by Attila’s Storm, an 18-year-old son of the Storm Cat stallion Forest Wildcat. Racing in five states from 2004-07, Attila’s Storm won five of 18 starts, including the ‘07 Toboggan Handicap-G3 at Aqueduct, and he earned $534,983.
Attila’s Storm has sired 22 black-type stakes winners and the earners of more than $12.7 million from 10 crops, including mul- tiple stakes winners Hush’s Storm, Stormin The Jewels, and Thermal. The Kentucky- bred stallion is owned by Jimmy J. Vasquez and Scott Branson, and he stands at W.L.

Cerveza’s dam, the winning 12-year-old Hennessy mare Cocktail Girl, has foaled four winners from six starters and is a half sister
to three stakes winners, including a pair of Grade 1 winners in Brazil, Virginie (BRZ) and Be Fair (NM). The gelding traces back to his fourth dam, Fashion Plate, a winning daughter of Cohoes and a half sister to multiple stakes winner Swiss Cheese.
A winner of four of 11 outs, Cerveza earned $30,000 from his first stakes victory. He has earned $114,398, and his record includes a third-place finish in the Feb. 23, $100,000 Red Hedeman Mile Stakes-R at Sunland Park, and a second-place run, a nose behind winner Shame On Powers, in last year’s 5 1/2-furlong, $143,000 Rio Grande Señor Futurity-R at Ruidoso Downs.
Shame On Powers finished third, a half of a length behind runner-up Effort N Results. Franchise Tagged, Stormin Fast, Evacuee, Seven Silver Coins, Jim Edd Who, Deck Humor, and More Action.
