FIRE ON THE FLY

Bullard Farms’ homebred Fire On The Fly extended his winning streak to five when he captured the Zoetis Remington Park Distance Challenge-G3 on May 22. He brought his total bankroll to $205,572.
Jockey Donell Blake, under Fire On The Fly, let Painted Josy and CR Tuckernuck set the pace. Around the turn, Fire On The Fly was fourth, but had plenty in reserve. When a hole closed in the stretch, Blake swung the gelding outside of Painted Josy and ran down that rival to win by a nose in :45.763 for the 870 yards.
Tommy Bullard of Bullard Farms in Weatherford, Texas, trains Fire On The Fly. During his career, the gelding has won five other stakes, all at 870 yards.
Texas-bred Fire On The Fly is out of the Thoroughbred mare Shades Of Pink, a 2-time win- ner in New York. The mare has produced 8 winners from 10 Thoroughbred starters, including stakes- placed Shady Caller, and 3 winners from 4 Quarter Horse starters, including stakes winner Pink Cartel.
Painted Josy (PYC Paint Your Wagon-She’s Josy-TB) finished second with Stormy Smith aboard. Brian Muse trains the 6-year-old gelding for owner George Carter. Painted Josy won last year’s Remington Distance Challenge as well as the Expo Square Stakes.
James Flores rode Daring And Dashing (First Down Dash-Splendifferous) to third for trainer Gerry McLean and owner Triple K Farms. The 5-year-old gelding finished second in this year’s Harris County Stakes.
Completing the field were CR Tuckernuck (Jet Black Patriot-Fast Prize Corona), Cjs Rocksolid (Rock Solid Jess-Sultry Miss), Juno Dat Timber (First Timber-Dashing Snowbound), and Mixed Fantasy (Okey Dokey Fantasy-Mixin Sixin). Give It To Shaq was scratched.
Merial RP Distaff Chal.-G3
GETTING EVEN

Any time a filly wins a stakes, she enhances her value. But with a family like that of Getting Even, black type becomes even more important. Getting Even got the job done at Remington Park in the Merial Remington Distaff Challenge-G3 on May 22.
Omar Reyes, deputizing for injured jockey Cody Jensen, urged Getting Even forward after she broke eighth. Getting Even pulled even with the field and drew off for a 1-length victory, completing the 400 yards in :20.050. It was her second win in five starts. Mike Robbins trains the three year old for owner Christine Hudson.
Scarlett Hill Farm Inc. bred Getting Even in Texas from multiple stakes winner Dash Master Miss. The mare has produced 22 winners from 26 starters, including Champion Significant Speed and stakes winners Push The Pace, Dash Master Jess, Lil Famous Dash, Significant Cartel, and Front Running Speed.
Eyesa Good One (First Down Dash-Eyesa Jumpn) ran second for jockey Jesus Salazar, trainer Trey Wood, and owner Johnny Trotter. The four- year-old filly finished third in the 2014 Los Alamitos Juvenile. Honeymoon Candy (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Jess Send Candy), bred by Michael Pohl and owned by Michael and Donalda Pohl, finished third. Agustin Silva rode the four-year-old filly for trainer Stacy Charette-Hill. Honeymoon Candy placed third in the 2015 Canterbury Derby.
Completing the field were Miss Racy Fire (Walk Thru Fire-Miss Racy Jess), Twntyfour Karat Rock (Rock Solid Jess-Sultry Miss), Send Me This Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Jess Send Candy), Zooming Separatist (Separatist-Zooming For Jess), SM Miss Joy Rose (Apollitcal Jess-Eyesa Country Miss), Rock Princess (Rock Solid Jess-A Classic Serenade), and Country Club Chick (Country Chicks Man-Its High).

Trainer Jack Brooks is a living legend. They
have a statue of him in the saddling paddocks
at Remington Park and at Ruidoso Downs, and Remington Park has a race named for him - the Jack Brooks Stakes, which took place at on May 29. There was a total purse of $50,000 on the line at the end of the 350-yard dash.
It was Mr James Quick who stepped away from the 3-post near the lead and finished 1/2-length on top. Under jockey Russel Hadley, Mr James Quick stopped the clock at :17.292 to earn a speed index of 95. The 3-year-old gelding also earned first place money of $29,784, which takes his total bankroll to $61,990.
Mr James Quick is owned by UN Stables and trained by Eddie L. Willis. The gelding was bred in Oklahoma by Randy McDonald and is out of the dam Miss Corona Quick, who is a 3-time winner and mul- tiple graded stakes finalist. The mare has produced 100% money earners/ROM from her seven starters. Mr James Quick is her first stakes winner, although stakes placed Eyem Unstopable is her top earner.
Streakin Pr (Corona Cartel-Bonnie Streakin) dug in to run a game second. His team includes owner Thomas J. Scheckel and trainer Kasey Willis. Roberto Valero was handling the reins.
Senator Tamale (Louisiana Senator-Real Hot Tamale) was gaining every jump when he crossed the line. The photo showed he was in third. His connec- tions include owner Ellen Kennedy Racing LLC & trainer Luis Villafranco. Mario Delgado was up.
The remaining order of finish was Send Me Good Candy (Good Reason Sa-Roll On Candy Wagon), Regard With Respect (Chicks Regard- Dynamite Friends), The Serge Protector (Capo De Capi-Directors Cut) Aventador (Pyc Paint Your Wagon-The Way You Want Me), Totti (Valiant Hero- Jess Maganette,) A Bee C (Apolitical Jess-Hollywood Caliente). Queen Catherine was scratched.
