Owner Milena Kwiecien missed the exacta by a neck when her two horses finished first and third in the July 10 John Deere Ajax Downs
Juvenile Challenge. Rpainted Pistol scored by 1-length, while stablemate Denali Teller Off just missed second and took third.
A winner at Remington Park, Rpainted Pistol went off as the favorite in the John Deere Ajax Juvenile Challenge. Though he got away last, the gelding wasted no time. With Ramiro Castillo in the irons, Rpainted Pistol surged forward to take the lead, and he drew off to win by 1-length in :18.620 for the 350 yards.
Rpainted Pistol was making his first start at Ajax in the Juvenile Challenge and his first start for Kwiecien and trainer Jason Pascoe. Bred by Bob and Deanna Williams in Oklahoma, Rpainted Pistol started twice at Remington for his breeders. The gelding has now banked $22,634 with the addition of this $10,804 winner’s share.
The Williamses also bred and raced Rdustys Chick, a Grade 1 winner of $289,536 and the dam of Rpainted Pistol. The mare has produced six winners in eight starters, including stakes winner Rspecial Chick and stakes-placed Rmiss Jessy.
Definitely Carter (Carters Cartel-Fames Qtpi) ran second for jockey Mike Holmes, trainer Anthony Cunningham, and owners James Barton, Edward Walsh, and Michael Kurty. The colt finished fifth
in each of two previous starts. Denali Teller Off (Louisiana Senator-Eye Like Beduino), third in her debut, ran third again with Chelsey Willick aboard. Pascoe also trains the filly for Kwiecien. Completing the field were One Fast Effort (One Famous Eagle- Tiny First Effort), First Down Money Pop (First Down Dash-Gotta Money Pop), Hickerson (Country Chicks Man-Easily Holland), and Lummis First (First Down Dash-Lummis). LS Prince was scratched.

Trust is something that is earned, not given, and Scoopies Leaving You has earned the trust of rider Donald Watson, his regular pilot.
After leaving the 1-post for the running of the Flying Breed Stakes at Delta Downs on July 9, Watson trusted his mount by sitting chilly for the 250-yard race that was worth a total of $50,000. That trust was rewarded by a wire-to-wire victory by a nose and a first place check worth $30,000.
The pair stopped the clock at :13.063 to earn a speed index of 92. The winner’s share adds to the total earnings for Scoopies Leaving You, taking that total to $268,680. His race record now stands at 15 wins out of 28 races, including seven additional stakes victories as well as a 250-yard New Track Record set winning the Harrah’s Dash earlier this year at Louisiana Downs.
Scoopies Leaving You is owned by Joel Galindo and trained by Kevin Broussard. The 5-year-old horse was bred in Louisiana by Gerald D. Libersat out of the stakes-placed mare Ms Scoopies Toast, who has produced four starters. Scoopies Leaving You is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
Bjs Magic Wings (Dragon Wings-Magic Shine) was gaining every jump but ran out of ground and took second for owners Donna & Kenneth Weeks and trainer Kenneth Weeks. J. Ramirez was han- dling the reins. In third was Oak Tree Eye Opener (Oak Tree Special-Eyes Of Lela), who is owned by Ascencion Cepeda and trained by Michael Taylor. Joe Badilla Jr had the riding assignment.
TM Dees Prize (Fast Prize Dash-Call Her Dee), Lets Jess Do It (First Prize Perry-Lets Separate), Sydney Leigh (First Prize Perry-Include), Rosouti (Agouti-Rose For Windy), Voncitas Game (Game Patriot-Voncita) and Jess Blueby Lena (Jess Louisiana Blue-Call Me Lenas Girl) completed the order of finish.

Winning a stakes race at Ajax Downs proved
to be twice as nice for Fiesty Icon. The four- year-old gelding made an impressive late rally to win the $43,749 Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity held July 17 at the Canadian track.
After breaking from the 4-gate, Fiesty Icon was running third at the first call and was a close second to Im Aquicktrick as they entered the stretch. Fiesty Icon maintained his pace, reaching the wire first by a head.
Carly Furlonger drew the riding assignment as Fiesty Icon covered the 330 yards in :16.690, regis- tering a 101 speed index. Furlonger was aboard the gelding in the July 1 trials as they won their heat by a length for the second-fastest qualifying time.
Fiesty Icon also won the Ontario Sires Stakes Derby last September on this same course. Owned and trained by Richard W. Kennedy, Fiesty Icon now holds eight victories in 15 lifetime starts, and the $17,499 payday from the Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity pushed the gelding’s career bankroll close to six figures at $98,705.
The Picov Cattle Company bred Fiesty Icon and owns his dam, Fiesty Spirit. Two of her six offspring have made starts, but Fiesty Icon remains the only stakes winner in the brood.
Jesskissmytexas (Mr Jess Tex-Strawfly Fortune), the overwhelming betting favorite at odds of 2-5, was 2nd for Richard Wincikaby & the DK Training Centre. The Don Reid trainee had Brian Bell aboard. Im Aquicktrick (El Night Shift-One Night Trick) was 3rd for Steve Hunter & trainer Janet Grice. Tony Phillips drew the riding assignment. Followed by Dinahlicious (Bodacious Dash-Dinah Carolina), Charted By DM (DM Selexus-Shake The Chart), Pegasos One Underpar (Down Home Dash-Pegasos Easy Seven), Embrace Extravagence (Wild Boyz-Special Royal Takeon) and Eyesa Speedy Simon (Its All About Speed-Eyesa Player). Lookin At Lucy & Make Me A Miracle scratched.
