Horses from the barn of trainer Gilbert Aguirre III, headed by winner Visual Magic, dominated the $47,880 Merial Lone Star Distaff Challenge at
Lone Star Park on Oct. 3.

MR JO EAGLE
by Michael Compton
After knocking on the door in his previous tries, Mr Jo Eagle joined the ranks of stakes winners with a powerful effort in the $20,000 Grand Prairie Stakes at Lone Star Park on Sept. 18.
Bumped from both sides after the break, Mr
Jo Eagle muscled his way to the front of the field
for jockey Agustin Silva. Despite the trouble away from the gate, he shot clear early, led by as many as 1 1/2-lengths, and powered through the finish line a 1-length victor for trainer R.L. Rick Robinson.
Mr Jo Eagle stopped the timer in :17.484 over a fast track, good for a speed index of 97.
Mr Jo Eagle, who finished second in this year’s TQHA Classic Stakes-RG3 and third in the 2014 Dash for Cash Derby-G3, now sports a 19-7-2-4 record and boasts earnings of $113,803.

Grand Prairie Stakes favorite Jess A Comment (First Comment-Jess Quick Fun) finished third, bringing a three-race win streak to a halt. Luis Ramirez piloted Michael Amburn’s six-year-old geld- ing for trainer Mike Robbins.
