WINNERS FOR YOU
by John Moorehouse
Winners For You was a decisive winner for his connections in the $27,100 Western States Breeders’ Derby, held Sept. 5 at Sweetwater Downs.
The 3-year-old colt collected his first win in stakes company, tallying his fifth career victory in 12 total starts. The $10,959 payday from this event improved his lifetime bankroll to $29,887 for owner Duane James Lindley, who home-bred the colt out of Macha Myth.
Winners For You went wire-to-wire in his second career stakes event. The colt broke on top from
the 7-gate and maintained a narrow lead over the entirety of the 400 yards, making it to the wire first by a neck. Ron Moosman trains Winners For You, who finished the race in :19.651 for a 98 speed index, while benefiting from a 9 mph tailwind. Jockey Tyson Lusk drew the riding assignment.
Winners For You has tallied three victories thus far during his sophomore campaign.
Lindley also home-bred Macha Myth, a lightly- raced 2000 mare who has produced 3 starters among 6 total offspring. Winners For You becomes the first of her foals to win a stakes race, although 1/2-brother Dash N Myth is a stakes-placed competitor, finishing 2nd in a pair of futurities during the 2009 campaign.
Cash N Perry (Tell Him Twice-Merry Perry), who has placed in multiple stakes races, out-nodded Gunnin For Doe (FDD Dynasty-Bundle Doe) to secure runner-up honors for Jerry Allen, who does double duty as owner and trainer. Jockey Jesus Virgen did the riding. Gunnin For Doe is owned by Steve Berry, and the Alvin Torres trainee had Uriel Dominguez in the irons.
Followed by Makn Fame (Maknmoves- Switching Fame), Makin Snow (Maknmoves- Dreaming Snow), BK Katniss (Hard Hitting-Lotta Kat Moves), Mister Wood (Maknmoves-GW Mandi Lou) & Rexton (Maknmoves-Sandyton). BF Apoliticalfanatic scratched.

BARELY A SECRET
by Michael Cusortelli
Barely A Secret, a sorrel filly owned by Gerald Kaul of Sheridan, Wyoming, outran her 10-1 odds to win the Sept. 6 Wyoming Bred Futurity at
Sweetwater Downs.
Ridden by Clyde Smith for trainer Mike Taylor,
Barely A Secret went 350 yards in :17.803. Her win- ning margin was a nose from TDM Big Shooter, who was disqualified from second and placed seventh for lugging in out at the start.
Barely A Secret broke her maiden in the Wyoming Bred Futurity. Previously, she finished second in her Aug. 22 trial to the contest 1/2-length behind fastest qualifier Jes Zoomin Girl.
The $10,745 winner’s share of the purse takes Barely A Secret’s bank account to $13,175. Her record now stands at 1-2-0 from five starts.
Barely A Secret was bred by Kaul, a longtime breeder who serves as chairman of the Casper-based Wyoming All Breeds Racing Association. The filly’s dam, A Secret Life, has foaled two winners from three starters. Barely A Secret traces back to her fourth dam, stakes winner Windi.
CD Jack Daniel Proud (BR Proudest Victory- TMZ Misbehavin) was placed second after the disqualification of TDM Big Shooter. The multiple stakes placed homebred gelding was prepped by Justin Thompson and ridden by Jesus Virgen for owner Carol Lee.
VVR Lloyd Bourdelle (Coronas Velvet-Get Down Betty Lou), the official third-place finisher, races for Mike Harrigfeld. Justin Vanderwoude rode the gelding for trainer Travis Offret.
Followed by Biduinos Rodeo (Brindis Por Cayenne-Sweethearts Rodeo), Jes Zoomin Girl (Jess Zoomin-Abs Carolina Girl), Cayenne Chic (Brindis Por Cayenne-Gm Check Her Out), TDM Big Shooter (Coronas Velvet-Tru Socialite) & CD Proudest Secret (BR Proudest Victory-Texans Special).
