Firecracker Futurity-G2
ONE FINE V

Fastest qualifier and odds-on favorite One Fine V ran true to expectations in the $305,865 Firecracker Futurity-G2 at Delta Downs on
July 9, winning the 350-yard affair in dominant fashion for owners Jose Maria Garza and Mario Vazquez and trainer Josue Ponce.
Breaking from the 8-post with jockey Victor Urieta aboard, One Fine V was out sharply in second place and engaged for the lead soon after the start.
After dueling with Pappacito and stablemate JL Apollitical Miss early, One Fine V surged clear in the lane and she had a 1/2-length advantage at the top of the stretch.
One Five V rolled to the wire unchallenged to score by 1 1/2-lengths at the finish.
The sorrel filly covered the distance in a lively :17.222, earning a speed index of 101 in the winning effort.
The final clocking just missed the 2013 track record of :17.082 set by Big Dashing Perry.
The Firecracker Futurity victory marked the third one in One Fine V’s five-race career.
