when Signs Of Livewire defeated Zbars Livewire FS.
The $28,222 winner’s share of the purse increased Sings Of Livewire’s earnings to $217,811 and the win was his sixth in as many starts for owner Jeff Adams and trainer Dee Keener.
Bred in Oklahoma by Alexia Willis, Signs Of Livewire is produced from the PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Signs Of PYC. While the bay colt’s closest margin of victory was by a neck in his March 4 debut at Remington Park, he won his next five starts by a combined 9 1/2-lengths.
“We are thrilled to death,” Adams said. “He’s undefeated at this point, and he just loves his job. It’s kind of amazing. He has truly done nothing but get stronger as the year has progressed.
“I have had some very nice horses in the past, but I don’t know if I’ve ever had one
of this caliber,” Adams added. “I almost feel guilty saying that. It’s probably a once-in-a- lifetime deal, so I am trying to enjoy it as much as I can.”
Runner-up Zbars Livewire FS APHA (CRM Livewire-Zbar Miss Bully QH) turned in another game effort but once again came up 2-lengths shy of his rival under jockey Cody Smith just as he did in the trials. A homebred for Fred Ballard, Zbars Livewire FS is trained by Ty Blackwell. A winner on debut in March at Remington Park, the colt has now finished second four times in six starts.
RP Dirty Barracuda APHA (Barracuda-RP Eye N Colours QH) and jockey Roman Cruz fired a big effort to finish third. Owned and
bred by Roy Kent Perkins and trained by Ray Enlow, RP Dirty Barracuda finished third in her trial and is still searching for the winners’ circle after six starts.
Baileys N Fun APHA (PYC Fun N Fancy QH-Baileys N Sunsets), PFR Quickwire APHA (CRM Livewire-Quick Caydee), Jess Beachin APHA (Dash Master Jess QH-I Like It Alota), Domestic Dude APHA
(Capo De Capi QH-Domestic Diva), BP
Baileysnmoonshine APHA (Moonin The Eagle QH-BP Baileys Success), Salt Wire APHA (CRM Livewire-Fantastic Follies QH), and I Didn’t Expect This APHA (CRM Livewire-Miss Hero) completed the order of finish. The third and final leg of the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown is the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Championship Futurity-G1 at Will Rogers Downs on Nov. 12.
