SHE LOOKS RACY
by John Moorehouse
She Looks Racy’s sophomore campaign is off to a fantastic start. Owned by Double A Ranch, the three-year-old sorrel filly opened 2016 with two consecutive stakes wins including her latest victory in the $22,125 Biscayne Stakes at Hialeah Park on Jan. 31.
With Yordanis Amaro aboard, She Looks Racy didn’t break on top but finished strong by kicking clear to win by a 1/2-length margin.
Elio Vazquez trains She Looks Racy, who fin- ished the 250-yard event in :13.025 for a new career high speed index of 102. The $13,939 winners share of the purse boosts the filly’s earnings to $85,571. She Looks Racy now holds four wins in six career starts and both of her stakes victories have come at Hialeah Park, including the Jan. 3 Mockingbird Stakes.
Johnny Trotter/Burnett Ranches bred She Looks Racy. Trotter and Glenn Blodgett own Miss Racy Jess, the dam of She Looks Racy. The 2008 mare Miss Racy Jess was the 2011 AQHA Champion 3-Year-Old Filly, a campaign that included winning the 2011 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby. Three of Miss Racy Jess’ five foals have made starts. She Looks Racy is her highest money earner and only stakes winner to date.

Tallahassee Stakes
LLANO CARTEL
by Michael Compton
Llano Cartel added to his already illustrious resume with a narrow victory in the $22,625 Tallahassee Stakes at Hialeah Park on Jan. 31 for his second consecu-
tive win at the historic South Florida track’s winter meet. With Raul Gutierrez riding for owner A. Wade Helton & trainer Fernando Carrete, Llano Cartel raced in 4th position early and charged between rivals late in
the 220-yard contest to take the win by a neck as the race favorite. The gelding stopped the timer in :11.855 for a 96 speed index. The Tallahassee Stakes win, com- bined with his runner-up effort in the Speedball Stakes last December, vaulted Llano Cartel to the top spot
of Hialeah Park’s Sprint Series with nine points. The Beautiful Prairie Stakes on Feb. 28 will serve as the final of the series for sprinters with a $15,000 bonus.
Victorious in 14 of 43 starts, Llano Cartel is a 5-time stakes winner and was the 2013 Oklahoma Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Gelding. The $14,027 he picked up for winning the Tallahassee boosted his career bankroll to $408,706. Bred in Oklahoma by Wootan Racing, Llano Cartel is the 1st stakes win- ner out of Eyesa Lil Cuervo, a stakes winner herself with 100% money earners from 6 starters including additional stakes placed runner JZ Zoomin Cuervo.
Rocket And Roll (Corona Cartel-Apollitical Jess) just missed under Francisco Ramirez Jr. for owner Valeriano Racing Stables & trainer Yoani Abreu. There was a dead heat for third as J.J. Racing’s Carters Money (Carters Cartel-Miss Eye Stocks) dueled throughout under Rodrigo Vallejo and finished a head behind the runner-up for trainer Judd Kearl to share the show spot with Toodles Destiny (First Down Mr Jess-Toodledoo Otoole), racing under Jose Davila for owner Bryan Calloway and trainer Raul Zavala. El Macho Prieto Boy (Hard Hitting-Silk Traffic), Spit Curl Daisy
(Spit Curl Jess-First Prize Corona), Load Your Guns (Corona Cartel-Dashing Little Reba) and Cakebread And Thou (Valiant Hero-Bicoastal) followed.
