When Exciting The Planet won the Adequan Evergreen Park Derby Challenge on Aug.
18, it produced a $12,010 payday for his owners
at Herds Racing. A much bigger prize could be in store for the 3-year-old gelding. By winning the $25,020 event at Grande Prairie, Exciting The Planet also qualified for the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship-G1 at Prairie Meadows next month.
As it is, Exciting The Planet has posted both of his career wins during his sophomore campaign and also posted his first-ever stakes victory in his ninth lifetime out. The gelding’s career earnings now stand at $19,396.
Exciting The Planet broke from the two-hole at the front of the pack, and charged to a half-length lead. Shez Jess Toxic came on strong, but jockey Tyler Walker still brought Exciting The Planet to the wire first by a neck. A Donalda Cochrane trainee, Exciting The Planet completed the 400-yard event in :20.020.
Cochrane also owns the dam of Exciting The Planet, Cash In This Lane, a stakes-placed 1994 mare with six starters among nine foals. Four of those six starters have some form of black type, and three of the four are stakes winners. Pow Wow Lane is the most successful of the brood; he boasts three graded stakes victories as part of 11 wins and more than $150,000 in prize money. Exciting The Planet was bred by Earl R. Brown.
Dean Frey owns and trains Shez Jess Toxic (Take Off Jess-Dashing Fly Lady), who placed second with Sean Evans aboard. CR Lil Bit Of Ivory (Ivory James-A Quick Glance) finished third for Cecil Wiest. The Allen Goodsell trainee was ridden by Teagan Oulton.
Tres Seis Smooches (Tres Seis-Sheza Soverign Dash), Be Like Me (Okey Dokey Fantasy-Scarlet Snow), Six Hawkin Rockets (Hawkinson-KR Laurie Darlin) and CR Mystic Chic (Oak Tree Special- Thischicsadashing) completed the field. Sales Pride was scratched.

executive Prince showed some regal poise under pres- sure during the $15,000 Live Oak Handicap, coming on strong to catch The Field Cricket and win the stakes
event by a half-length on Aug. 10 at Retama Park. With the victory, Executive Prince now holds four wins in 18 total starts. This also marked his
first-ever stakes triumph, coming less than two months after a runner-up performance in the TQHA Sires’ Cup Stakes on June 30. The Live Oak also snapped a 10-race drought for Executive Prince, who hadn’t been to the winner’s circle since the final out of his rookie campaign back in 2010.
Prepped by Judd Kearl, Executive Prince covered the 350 yards in :17.378. Rodrigo Vallejo did the riding. Executive Prince owners, Bennie and Teresa Jeter, reaped a $9,450 payday that improved the 4-year-old gelding’s lifetime bankroll to $68,789.
Scarlett Hill Farm, Inc., bred Executive Prince from the multiple stakes winning mare Sticky N Picky. An earner of almost $120,000, Sticky N Picky’s offspring have had success, too, none moreso than Executive Looks. A full-brother to Executive Prince, Executive Looks holds three stakes wins among a dozen top-three finishes in stakes company and has earned more than a quarter-million dollars. Sticky N Picky has 12 starters and 8 winners from 14 foals.
The Field Cricket (Lead The Field-Quick Lil Cricket) placed second by a head for owner Claud Denson and trainer Jesse Yoakum. Jerry Yoakum did the riding. Texas Icon (Corona Cartel-Jennifer Kate) faded late to finish third. Jerry Windham is the owner and Thomas Zarate did the prep work, while Luis Vivanco was aboard.
Royal Sin Tacha (Ocean Runaway-Sin Tacha Perry), His A Tycoon Cowboy (Special Red Warrior- Streakin Splash) and Carlo Magno (Adrians Jolla- Las Alamitos) rounded out the field. Moon Shaken Gal was scratched.

earlier this year, Fredaville traveled to her native Oklahoma to capture the Merial Remington Distaff Challenge. That earned her a berth in the
Merial Distaff Challenge Championship-G1 at Prairie Meadows on Oct. 27. She could have stayed in California, since she also won the Aug. 18 Merial Los Alamitos Distaff Challenge-G3.
Jockey G.R. Carter Jr. won the Remington Distaff Challenge with Fredaville. He partnered
her again at Los Alamitos, and they jumped out to
a quick lead in the 400-yard event. Though favored Thisfeatureisspecial closed some ground, Fredaville easily held her off to win by a half-length in :19.684.
Robert Gentry owns and bred Fredaville. The 6-year-old mare has now earned $251,571, with six stakes victories in the past two years. She has placed in eight other stakes. Juan Aleman trains her at Los Alamitos.
Fredaville is out of multiple stakes winner Fearless Freda, who has produced eight winners in 10 starters. Three of those have captured stakes, includ- ing the successful sire Fredricksburg and Dasha Freda, while two others have placed in stakes.
Thisfeatureisspecial (Feature Mr Jess-This Girl Is Special) was second under jockey Ramon Sanchez, Thisfeatureisspecial won the Junos Request. Paul Jones trains Thisfeatureisspecial for Brazilian owner Mauro Eli Zaborowsky.
Dennis Ekins trains third-place Flying Fig (Corona Cartel-Tender Flyer), who was ridden by Alex Bautista. Bred by Legacy Ranch Inc., which owns the filly with Muller Racing LLC, Flying Fig was the 2010 Champion 2-Year-Old Filly.
Rounding out the field were Perrier Cartel (Corona Cartel-Perrier Jouet), Touch Of Paso (Jumpn-Queen Judea), Getit Together (Separatist- Seronka), Black Carmel (Corona Cartel-Tender Flyer), Jess So Sixy (Mr Jess Perry-Oh So Sixy), and Oh La Traffic (Hawkish-Coupers First Dash).
