TDM BIG SHOOTER

TDM Big Shooter, the 2-1 favorite in a field of eight, sprinted to a 1/2-length victory in the $19,000 Wyoming All Breeds Racing Association Maturity at Energy Downs on June 24.
Racing for Tyson Morgan, TDM Big Shooter
broke mid-pack from the 4-post and battled for the lead. The gelding was able to move to the front in the in the stretch and crosssed the wire 1/2-length in front.
The team completed the 400 yards over a muddy track in :20.591 for an 87 speed index while earning $6,650. Oscar Cervantes rode the 5-year-old gelding for trainer Steve Morgan.
TDM Big Shooter has raced exclusively in the Intermountain region, and he has now banked $57,110. His race record stands at 23-12(5)-2-3.
Last year, he set New Track Records for 330 yards
at Sweetwater Downs and 220 yards at Wyoming Downs. He has additional stakes wins in the 2015 Wyoming Bred Futurity, 2016 Wyoming Bred Derby and Wyoming All Breed Derby, and in the 2017 Wyoming All Breed Maturity.
TDM Big Shooter was bred by Mike Lipp out
of Tru Socialite, a finalist in the 2005 Pot O’ Gold Futurity-G3. She has produced four winners from six starters, including Northwest Hi-Point Three- Year-Old Colt Catlow Rim. TDM Big Shooter is her first stakes winner and top money earner.

ANew Track Record is something to be proud of, and the connections of JRS Blue Boy can take a bow after their gray gelding set the 350-yard stan- dard in the $15,125 Energy Downs Bonus Challenge on June 16.
JRS Blue Boy didn’t get away from the 6-gate
in great fashion, but he was in the lead within a few strides. Scooting down the lane like a runaway train, the gelding crossed the wire 3/4-length in front.
Under Rene Lopez, JRS Blue Boy completed the 350 yards in :17.199, posting a 114 speed index. This marks JRS Blue Boy’s third stakes victory and his second New Track Record. JRS Blue Boy brought home the $6,277 winner’s share of the purse for owner Sam Allie and trainer Riley Moosman, boost- ing his total lifetime earnings to $53,324.
He now has a race record of 17-9(3)-5(1)-1. His other stakes wins include the 2015 Intermountain Futurity and the 2016 Laurel Brown Derby. He set his first New Track Record in his start prior to this win on Sept. 2, 2017, covering 250 yards in :13.127 at Sweetwater Downs for a 109 speed index. JRS Blue Boy’s career high speed index sits at 116.
Allie bred JRS Blue Boy, the first starter out of lightly raced Lil Blue Blitz, who is a 1/2-sister to Jans Dash, finalist in the Diamond Classic Futurity-RG1 and Silver Dollar Futurity-RG1. His second dam is multiple winner Blitz Pastem.

Ivan Ashment Handicap
THERMONUCLEAR ENERGY

Thermonuclear Energy likes to conserve her energy for the final yards of her races. She typically puts on a huge rush at the end, and it frequently pays off, as it did in the $35,000 Ivan Ashment Handicap at Los Alamitos on June 23.
Ridden by Eduardo Nicasio, Thermonuclear Energy broke fifth. She came on strongly in the second half of the 400-yard event to score by a 1/2-length in :19.821, posting a 91 speed index. The $19,250 winner’s share of the purse boosted her total lifetime earnings to $295,257.
Christopher O’Dell trains Thermonuclear Energy for the Parsons Family Limited Partnership, who bred the 5-year-old mare in California. Thermonuclear Energy earlier won the 2017 Las Damas Handicap-G3 and 2015 Los Alamitos $2 Million Juvenile, and she has placed in five other stakes.
Terrific Energy, the dam of Thermonuclear Energy, won the 2009 Charger Bar Handicap-G1 and Mildred N. Vessels Memorial Handicap-G1. The mare has produced 100% money earners from 12 starters, 11 of which are winners, including additional stakes winners Terrific Synergy, her top earner, Dynasty Energy, and Designs By Dynasty, who finished fifth in this Ivan Ashment Handicap.
Elena Andrade bred and trains second-place Jess Mas (One Sweet Jess-Corona Mas Fina) and Ruben Lozano finished second for owners Oscar Andrade & Steve Burns.
Dr. Ed Allred’s homebred Tough To Figure (Walk Thru Fire-Big Jan) finished third under jockey Carlos Huerta for trainer Scott Willoughby.
Strawfinders Jessee (One Sweet Jess-Strawfinder), Designs By Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Terrific Energy), One Hot Habit (Walk Thru Fire-Jess Another Habit), One Sweet Runner (One Sweet Jess-Check Her Running) and Zendaya (Foose-Red Hawk Chick) completed the order of finish.
