FOLLY N DASH
by Tracy Gantz
Folly N Dash has a pedigree that appears all over Quarter Horse racing because he is a half-brother to the top sires PYC Paint Your Wagon and Ivory
James. Thus, it wasn’t surprising to see the geld- ing become a stakes winner in the All American Congress Maturity at Belterra Park on Oct. 9.
The 4-year-old earlier this year ran third in the Hazel Park Bonus Challenge to winner and stable- mate Famous Bank. Saul Perez trains both horses for Rodolfo Rodriguez. Folly N Dash went off as the favored 7-10 entry in the Maturity.
Folly N Dash almost lost all chance at the start when he bore out and was running last. But, he made a huge late rush to collar the leaders and win by a neck in :22.036 for the 440 yards.
Luis Gerardo Aguirre bred Folly N Dash in Oklahoma from Dashin Follies. She has produced 100% money earners from 24 starters, including Champion sire/top earner PYC Paint Your Wagon and multiple stakes winner Mi Angela. Folly N Dash is her third stakes winner.
Harold Collins piloted Eye Popping (Mr Eye Opener-Shes Jess Special) to second for trainer Bart Sachleben and owner Duke Racing, LLC. The 4-year-old filly finished second in the QHRAI Derby and third in the Indiana Grand QHRAI Derby in 2015.
Famous Bank (One Famous Eagle-Shake The Bank), ridden by Natasha Fritz, ran third. In addi- tion to winning the Hazel Park Bonus Challenge, she finished third in the 2015 El Primero Del Ano Derby-G3.
Completing the field were Skye Fire (Walk Thru Fire-Halfpast Aheartbreak), Style On Speed Dial (Ivory James-Pat B Stylin), Last Universal Baby (Universal Pride-Last Tupelo Baby), and A First Down Legacy (Inseperable- Shezaregalstrawfly).
Bobby Angel Handicap
PRECIOUS DOMINIQUE
by John Moorehouse
Score one for the underdog. A 32-1 longshot, Precious Dominique surprised in the $15,000 Bobby Angel Handicap at Los Alamitos on Oct. 28. Precious Dominique made an alert break from the 3-gate and quickly grabbed the lead. She and Elicity battled early, but Precious Dominique led by a neck as they entered the stretch. The underdog filly widened the gap from there, pulling away to win the race by a 1/2-length margin.
Jose Hernandez, Jr. trains Precious Dominique, who finished her 350-yard trip in :17.670, posting a 90 speed index. Tony Guymon was aboard.
The two-year-old filly collected her third win
in seven total starts, and her first victory in stakes company. Owner Adrian Gonzalez cashed an $8,250 payday, nearly doubling her earnings to $17,845. This was the first start for Precious Dominique since she was claimed for $10,000 this summer by Gonzalez.
The partnership of Alessio, Brown and Davies, LLC bred Precious Dominique out of Dash For Kate, who is owned by Mondel Martinez. She has produced 100% money earners from eight starters, including California Hi-Point Distance Horse/stakes winner Mister Michael and stakes winner/top earner Girlie Man.
Elicity (Apollitical Jess-Flame N Flash),
a finalist in this year’s All American Juvenile Invitational, finished second for Papas Place, LLC. Juan Aleman is the trainer and Martin Arriaga
was aboard. Myfavoritestreaker (Favorite Cartel- Checkoutthestreaker), the pre-race favorite, placed third for owner Ronald J. Hartley and trainer John Cooper. Cesar DeAlba drew the riding assignment.
Sagita (Corona Czech-Catahawk), One Sweet Runner (One Sweet Jess-Check Her Running), Frenemy (Kiddy Up-Flare Checking), Getting Better (TR Dasher-Callan Rocks) and Perrys Crystal (Mr Jess Perry-Crystal Sola) completed the field.

HEZA DASHA FIRE
by Tracy Gantz
The Los Alamitos stable area currently hosts
two superstars—the Thoroughbred California Chrome and the Quarter Horse Heza Dasha Fire. While California Chrome ships elsewhere to com- pete, Heza Dasha Fire has put his incredible career together solely at Los Alamitos.
Heza Dasha Fire obliterated six others in the Robert L. Boniface Invitational Championship-G1 on Oct. 9. With regular rider Cruz Mendez aboard, he broke inward, getting away next to last, before motoring to the front. He never looked back, win- ning by 1/2-length in :21.380 for the 440 yards.
Jose Flores trains Heza Dasha Fire for Don and Kathy Meneely and their son, Shawn. The Meneely family bred Heza Dasha Fire in Washington and race him in the name of S-Quarter K, LLC. The 2015 World Champion, Heza Dasha Fire won the Go Man Go Handicap-G1 prior to the Boniface this year.
AQHA Dam of Distinction Dasha Freda, the dam of Heza Dasha Fire, has produced 100% money earners from six starters, including Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding Ima Fearless Hero and stakes winner Heza Fearless Dasher. World Champion/3- time Champion Heza Dasha Fire is her top earner.
BH Lisas Boy (Mighty Invictus-Apollo Snowbound), bred, owned, and trained by Bill Hoburg, finished second under jockey Jesus Ayala. The 4-year-old gelding also ran second to Heza Dasha Fire in the Go Man Go Handicap-G1. Jose Alvarez rode Stevie B First Cash (First Down Dash- Spit Curl Diva) to third for trainer Bret Vickery and owner Two Feathers Series, LLC. The 3-year-old colt was coming off a win in the First Down Dash Derby.
Completing the field were Dutcher (Apollitical Jess-Louisiana Eye Opener), Viento Negro (First Moonflash-Coup Of Corona), He Looks Hot (Walk Thru Fire-Look Her Over) and Jess Cuz (Mr Jess Perry-Corona Couture).
