Mahoney N Tacklebery, the fifth-fastest qualifier and 2-1 favorite in the finals parlayed a sharp break from his rail post into a wire-to-wire victory in
the Western States Breeders’ Futurity at the Central Wyoming Fair in Casper on Sept. 3.
Ridden by Jesus Valenzuela, Mahoney N Tacklebery covered 350 yards in :17.805 while defeating Movin The Doe by 1-length. Riley Moosman prepped the homebred gelding for owner Ben Peterson of Morgan, Utah.
The $42,750 winner’s share of the $106,875 purse from his first stakes win increased Mahoney
N Tacklebery’s bankroll to $69,021. Mahoney N Tacklebery was coming off of a second-place finish to fastest qualifier Genuine Version in the fourth of six trials on Aug. 20. Campaigned exclusively in the Intermountain region, the gelding has won three of his six races, and his resume includes a second-place finish in the June 25, $118,804 Bitterroot Futurity at Sandy Downs in Idaho.
Mahoney N Tacklebery is the first starter foaled by Fountain Bleu. He traces back to his fourth dam, the multiple stakes winning mare Royal Black Willow.
Movin The Doe (Maknmoves-Bundle Doe) was ridden by Uriel Dominguez for owner/trainer Luis Gonzales. The gelding finished a 1/2-length ahead of Making Hot Wheels, who was disqualified and placed sixth, moving Too Long Kissin (Stel Corona- Kiptys First Kiss) into the show slot. Juan Pulido rode Too Long Kissin for owner/trainer Jorge Nava.
Makinproudmoves (Maknmoves-Proud Moon Bug), Genuine Version (Winners Version-Audy B Flyin), Making Hot Wheels (Maknmoves-Suni Rae), One Sweet Fool (One Sweet Jess-Gigarad), Down
N Runnin (Hadtobenuts-Chicadown Azure), BK Katmandu (First Prize Stone-Lotta Kat Moves) and JB Corona Heart (Lovin This Corona-Pearl Heart) completed the order of finish.

KATIES EASY MOVES

Fastest qualifier from the Aug. 21 trials at Sweetwater Downs, Katies Easy Moves recorded his fourth consecutive win Sept. 4, leading wire to
wire to win the $32,650 Western States Breeders’ Derby at the Central Wyoming Fair.
Ridden by Jordan Hadley, Katies Easy Moves broke alertly and grabbed a short lead away from
the gate. He dueled throughout with Shez A Motor Scooter, digging in late to prevail by a neck at the finish as the odds-on favorite in the field of 8 sopho- mores. Katies Easy Moves covered the 400-yard distance in :20.083 and earned an 89 speed index. Jessica Hadley trains the bay gelding for owners O-So Smart, LLC and Walter L. J. Finder.
Katies Easy Moves picked up the $13,060 winner’s share of the purse, which increased his total bankroll to $34,307. It was the second career stakes score
for Katies Easy Moves, who also annexed last year’s Bitteroot Juvenile Invitational Stakes at Les Bois Park.
Walter L. J. Finder bred Katies Easy Moves in Utah out of Katie Lane Finder. She has produced 100% money earners from six starters including Grade 1 finalist Moven Lannie and Grade 3 finalist Moven Katielane. Katies Easy Moves is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Shez A Motor Scooter (Heza Motor Scooter- Ditto Dotti) finished second under Cody House for trainer Owen Udy, who co-owns the filly with Kapp Investments Co. LLC. A Good Move (Maknmoves- Switching Fame) finished third under Jesus Valenzuela for owner Nielson Brown and trainer Riley Moosman. Followed by Sheza Good Reason (Good Reason SA-Sheza Jo Baby Jo), Pappadeux (Pappasito- Proud Lady Bug), Lets Go Feature (Feature Movie- Lets Go Flyer), Alma The Younger (Attila’s Storm TB-JC A Special Spirit) and CD Rockin Da Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Sunbrook Lane). Hoopster and Tosty Dash were scratched.
Western States Juvenile
HEZA LACEY J JR

Heza Lacey J Jr made short work of seven rivals in the $16,050 Western States Juvenile Stakes at the Central Wyoming Fair on Sept. 4.
The 2-year-old gelding dueled for the early lead away from the gate, edged clear in the lane and rolled to a clear-cut 2-length score in the 350-yard dash under Jesus Valenzuela.
This marked the third consecutive win for Heza Lacey J Jr, who stopped the timer in :17.930 and earned a 91 speed index. The brown gelding has tallied four wins from just five lifetime starts. Riley Moosman trains the brown gelding for owner Sam Allie, Jr.
The $6,561 winner’s share of the purse increased Heza Lacey J Jr’s total lifetime earnings to $10,341.
Heza Lacey J Jr was bred in Utah by Sam Allie out of the unraced Lacey Jn Me. She has produced 100% money earners from five starters including top earner/stakes winner Lacey J Jr, who won the 2013 Bitterroot Futurity-RG3 and stakes placed Lacey JS Little Sis who finished second in the Wyoming Downs Futurity at Wyoming Downs and the Bitterroot Juvenile Invitational at Les Bois Park, both in 2015.
Dashin Happy (Winners Version-Dashin
Amy Jo) finished second under Uriel Dominguez for owner A & C Racing and Roping and trainer Chancey Spencer. Version Quest (Winners Version- Louisianas Game) finished third under Donald Guynes for owner A & C Racing and Roping. Chancey Spencer also trains the filly.
Saint Hawkeye (Saint Shackleton-Private Hawkeye), Moonlight Rendezvous (First Moonflash-Commotion Motion), Mariwon Oh (Jess Jones-Glow N Go Tell), Musical Jess (Jess
My Moon-Jungle Song) and Cool Bay Chick (Brookstone Bay-Feature Cool Chick) followed. JN First Snow was scratched.
