Bob Moore Memorial Stakes-G2
EYE EYE CAPTAIN
by John Moorehouse
The first 48 horses who drew the far outside No. 12 starting gate during this year’s meet at Remington Park came away winless. Eye Eye Captain proved to be lucky number 49, breaking from that gate and outrunning the competition to win the $62,400 Bob Moore Memorial at Remington Park on April 20.
Trained by Guillermo Valdivia, Eye Eye
Captain broke on top from her outside starting gate and led at every call of the 300-yard race, beat-
ing Painted Dynasty to the wire by 1/2-length. Rolando Raudales was aboard for the victorious trip, completed in :15.387 for a 91 speed index. Eye Eye Captain now holds six wins in 28 total starts and has finished first or second in 15 of her career outs.
This marked the third career stakes victory for Eye Eye Captain, a five-year-old mare home-bred by David Clonts. Eye Eye Captain also won the previous two run- nings of the Belles Stakes at Fair Meadows. She brought home a $38,022 payday from her Bob Moore Memorial win, improving her total earnings to $145,217.
