Los Alamitos Juvenile Invit.
BLUEEYEDEAGLE
by Dillon Hamilton
Odds-on favorite Blueeyedeagle achieved his first stakes victory in the $30,000 Los Alamitos Juvenile Invitational for two-year-olds on Dec. 11.
The sorrel gelding started on the front foot from the 6-hole. He led from the gate under Jesus Ayala and never relinquished his lead, completing his fresh- man season with three wins from his last three starts.
Blueeyedeagle and Ayala broke well, mounting their largest lead at the outset. They moved inward out of the gate and held the lead at every call as they made their way down the track, narrowly holding on to win by a head at the wire. The pair hustled down the 400-yard, fast track with a time of :19.898 for an 88 speed index.
Blueeyedeagle’s earnings peaked at $25,648 after claiming the $12,000 winner’s share of the purse for owner Two Feather Series LLC and trainer Bret Vickery.
Grant Farms LLC bred Blueeyedeagle out of 3-time stakes winner Linda Te Chick. The mare has produced 100% money earners from 15 starters, including top earner/G1 winner Mr Pie Chick and additional stakes winner Scream N Eagle.

A Ransom Handicap
UNCLAIMED DIVIDEND
by Dillon Hamilton
Unclaimed Dividend became a multiple stakes winner in the $25,000 A Ransom Handicap for three-year-olds at Los Alamitos on Dec. 16.
A brisk tailwind and fast track saw the three- year-old bay gelding claim his second stakes title having previously won the 2016 Governor’s Cup Derby-RG3. Unclaimed Dividend broke well from the third post position under Jesus Ayala. In the
A Ransom Handicap, the pair fought for an early advantage, leading by as much as a head, but the finish was overcrowded. The top seven finishers were separated by a mere six one-hundredth’s of a second. The pair dueled valiantly and prevailed, recording a time of :17.601 over the 350-yards and earning a 91 speed index in winning by a nose.
Christmas came early for owner EG High Desert Farms and trainer Yanet Rodriguez, bringing home the $13,750 winner’s share of the purse. The win brings the gelding’s lifetime earnings to $113,718.
Owner EG High Desert Farms bred Unclaimed Dividend in California out of 4-time winner Chavela Magic. She has produced 100% money earners from three starters. Unclaimed Dividend is her first stakes winner and top earner.

9 at Los Alamitos, winning the $20,000 Paul B. Ford Memorial Handicap for the second straight year.
An overwhelming favorite at post time, the 4
year old broke well from the 8-post and grabbed a 1/2-length lead as he reached the first call. He con- tinued to widen his margin the rest of the way, hold- ing a 1 1/4-length advantage going into the stretch and crossing the line with a 2 1/4-length separation.
