Flying Breed Stakes
HEASABLACKMAGIC
by Michael Compton
Heasablackmagic just missed in a pair of starts prior to the Flying Breed Stakes at Delta Downs, but the game 7-year-old gelding put it all together and
utilized a solid late rally to score the second stakes win of his career in the 220-yard dash on July 7.
Ridden by Jesse Levario, Heasablackmagic raced in 2nd position away from the 3-gate. He engaged leader Di Maria, shrugging off that rival and then held at bay a late rush from Sweet Bru, who had defeated him in their prior meeting, to prevail by a neck. Heasablackmagic stopped the timer in a swift :11.657. The final time earned a speed index of 106. Telma Loya trains the gelding.
With the win, Heasablackmagic improved his career mark to 29-9(2)-5(2)-4(2) and increased
his bankroll to $203,390 for owner Yiret Duran. Heasablackmagic’s additional stakes victory came in the 2016 Par A Dice Stakes at Delta Downs. He also was second in the 2014 Louisiana Champions Day Derby-RG3 at Fair Grounds.
Bred in Louisiana by Gerald Paul Vidrine, Heasablackmagic is out of the winning mare Toast Of Magic and is a half-brother to stakes-placed runners Look Of Magic and Acoronas Toast. Heasablackmagic is her top earner and first stakes winner.
