TQHA 250 Stakes
DM LA JOLLA
by Michael Compton
Not only did DM La Jolla justify his favoritism in the TQHA 250 Stakes by winning the 250-yard dash with authority at Retama Park on July 27, the
4-year-old gelded son of Hiclass La Jolla also made history in the race.
With Rolando Cabrera riding for trainer Porfirio Fierro, DM La Jolla raced in third position early before grabbing the lead away from Jazzin Corona. Once in front, there was no stopping DM La Jolla who rolled to a 1 1/4-length score, stopping the timer in :13.198, a New Track Record. Dm La
Jolla eclipsed the previous mark of :13.259 set by Executive Tone in 2012. The winner’s final time earned a 106 speed index.
The second stakes victory improved DM La Jolla’s overall mark to 19-5(2)-5(1)-4(1) and the $21,000 winner’s share of the purse increased his bankroll
to $91,379 for owner Horses of Fire Inc. His other stakes victory was in the Delta Dash earlier this year.
Donna Mushinski bred DM La Jolla out of unraced DM Bella Mia. She has produced 100% winners from four starters. DM La Jolla is her first stakes winner and top earner.

by Michael Compton
Safe to say that He Is The Risingstar is more than
