HE IS THE RISINGSTAR

He Is The Risingstar tallied his sixth stakes victory in the $15,000 Tower of the Americas Handicap at Retama Park on July 7.
Racing for Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches LP, He Is The Risingstar broke fourth from the 3-hole and dueled all the way. He drove home to finish first by a neck in :27.055, posting a109 speed index. Jerry Lee Yoakum rode the gelding for trainer L.R. “Tooter” Jordan.
He Is The Risingstar has now won 10 of 26 starts, including seven of his 10 outs at the 550-yard distance. The $8,550 winner’s share of the $15,000 purse from his sixth stakes victory, all at the 550 trip, pushed the gelding’s bankroll to $169,370.
He Is The Risingstar is a half-brother to two stakes winners, including 5-time stakes winner & New Track Record Setter Diamond Tres Seis, who is the top earner of the brood. The second dam, Medley Glass, won the 1978 All American Derby.
He Is The Risingstar was bred by Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm LLC. The gelding is one of 17 winners and three stakes winners from 25 start-
ers produced by Meddlin Mischief, a winning and multiple stakes placed daughter of 2-time World Champion Dash For Cash.
Dealmfast (Dealagame-Takin Up The Ante) and Jose Martinez ran second for owner Twin Spires Farm and trainer Leon Bard.
Crown Racing’s Grand Ilusion (Shazoom-Jess An Illusion) finished third under Noe Villatoro for trainer Jimmy Padgett II.

Eye Opener), Love Ta Zoom (Azoom-Loves Easter Bunny), TH Thomas Leo (Dashin For Penny- Sophisticated Sign), Rio Special Jr (Fantastic Corona Jr-Jody Elan), JRC Callas First (Winners Award- Calla Missy Jane) and First Impulse (Volcom-Tosca’s Rock TB) completed the order of finish. DEALA QUICK GAME

Jose Martinez rode Deala Quick Game to a neck victory in the $15,000 Live Oak Handicap at Retama Park on July 7.
Prepped by Leon Bard for owner Pete Scarmardo, Deala Quick Game covered 350 yards on a sloppy track in :17.532.
In addition to posting his lifetime-best 104 speed index, he earned the $9,450 winner’s share of the purse.
Deala Quick Game was making his first start since April 16, when he ran sixth in a 350-yard, $8,200 allowance dash at Sam Houston Race Park.
Raced exclusively in Texas, Deala Quick Game has won five of 19 starts and has banked $42,690. The gelding was a finalist in the 2016 TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG3 at Retama Park.
Pete Scarmardo bred Deala Quick Game out of stakes placed winner Quickid Perry, who was third in the 2008 Delta Dash Stakes. She has produced 100% money earners from nine starters, including Texas Hi-Point Three-Year-Old Gelding Dash Quick Perry, winner of last year’s Sam Houston Stakes and Retama Park Derby. She is also the dam of Texas Hi-Point Three-Year-Old Gelding Kid Can Dash, who was second in last year’s Neville Document Solutions Stakes.
RC Me Leaving You (Coronas Leaving You-Sixy Bottom) finished second under Noe Villatoro for own- ers Bennie and Terri Jeter and trainer Jimmy Padgett II.
Tellereyematthebar (Teller Cartel-Eye Shine Special) and Francisco Mendez ran third for owners James Ray Hrabovsky and Joye Leann Nalls and trainer Gilbert Aguirre III.
Glimpse Of Fire (Glimpse Of Greatness- Pie Opener) was fourth and was followed by Desdemona Rambler (Tempting Dash-Kritters Effort) and Kraken Black (First Down Mr Jess- Lajollaslastthought).

JESS IAM FIRST ROYAL

Making her official season debut, Simon Escamilla’s homebred Jess Iam First Royal dominated her opposition in the $15,000 Selma
Stakes for 3 year old and older fillies and mares at Retama Park on July 6. Jess Iam First Royal covered 350 yards in :17.435 and earned a 107 speed index. Her margin of victory was a clear 2 1/4-lengths from First Prize Friend. Froylan Ramirez rode the filly for trainer Felipe Garza.
Raced primarily in Texas and Louisiana, Jess Iam First Royal has now won five of 18 starts, and the $8,250 winner’s share of the purse from her first stakes victory pushed the filly’s bankroll to $35,239.
Her resume includes a third-place finish in last year’s Sam Houston Distaff Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park, and in 2016 she set a New Track Record at the Gillespie County Fair for 300 yards when she won an allowance race by 1-length in :15.331.
Escamilla bred Jess Iam First Royal out of 2-time winner Iam First Royal. The mare has produced 100% money earners from three starters, two of which are winners. Jess Iam First Royal is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
First Prize Friend (First Down Dash-Ms First Prize Rose) and Victor Urieta Jr. finished second for owners Randy & Sandy Coleman and trainer Trey Wood. Together To The End (Inseperable-Gabbey Holland) ran third under Jose Martinez for owner Valerie Moya for trainer Elpidio Luna Jr.
Sugars First Love (Tempting Dash-Loves Brown Sugar), Marfilous (Ivory James-Verrsace), Tempting Feefee (Tempting Dash-Feefees Celebration), Easy Gold Pop (Gol-Scoops Victory Pop), Shez Just Courageous (Captain Courage- Shez Just Regal), Moneypenny (Apollitical Jess-Eye Caughtcha Peekin) and Red Stem (One Dashing Eagle-First Caroline Rose) completed the order of finish Th Maverick scratched.
