Making his stakes debut at age 7, Streak Jase left little doubt of who was best in the $15,000 IZYK 870 Stakes at Arapahoe Park on July 22.
In a compact field of six, Streak Jase raced in third position early. He swung 4-wide under Cerapio Figueroa around the turn of the 870-yard marathon and collared pacesetter, Silver Citizen. The sorrel gelding ran away and finished strong, 1 1/4-length in front of the pack.
Streak Jase covered the distance in :44.684, earn- ing a career-best 111 speed index.
In winning the initial stakes race of his career, Streak Jase improved his record to 16-5(1)-0-3.
Streak Jase brought home the $9,000 winner’s share of the purse, boosting his total lifetime earn- ings to $44,661. He is owned by Ramon Trejo and trained by Zachary Quezada.
Prior to this victory, Streak Jase had won two of three races at Remington Park this season, both of which were claiming races.
Jackie E. Brown bred Streak Jase out of winner Go To Okey. The lightly raced mare is a half-sister to Black Gold 300 Futurity and Black Gold Derby win- ner Gamblers Peak. Go To Okey has produced 100% money earners from three starters. Streak Jase is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
Silver Citizen (Silver City TB-Red Alarm) and Adrian Ramos were second for owner Santos Lopez and trainer Alejandro Chavez. The gelding also won the 2016 Mile High Derby at Arapahoe.
Trickortreat TB (Second In Command-Lite My Pumpkin) finished third under Eddie Aceves for owner/trainer Jose Antonio Moreno. The gelding was coming off a four race win streak.
Stormy Red Morning (Red Storm Cat-Sweet First Jean), Z Smoking Gun TB (Zensational-In Her Glory) and Jzoomin Scoot (Jess Zoomin-Scootan Wootan) completed the order of finish.

Persistence paid off for Perkin Desire and owner/ trainer Roberto Gomez. Perkin Desire has com- peted in Colorado-bred stakes at Arapahoe Park for
three years, getting back-to-back stakes wins in the $15,000 Leo Beau Dash Stakes on June 30 and the $15,000 Dolls Prodigy Stakes on July 14.
For her most recent in the 350-yard Dolls Prodigy, Perkin Desire came out of the gate on top with Jhaciel Soto aboard. No one got close to her, and she scored by 3/4-length in :18.025 for an 83 speed index.
Perkin Desire again defeated SK Duck Dynasty, her nemesis in the Leo Beau Dash. Perkin Desire broke her maiden at Arapahoe in 2016 and has also won at Prairie Meadows.
The $9,000 winner’s share of the Dolls Prodigy purse boosted her total lifetime earnings to $38,810, and she now has a race record of 15-5(2)-1-2.
In 2016 at age two, Perkin Desire failed to qualify for the Cherry Creek Futurity. In 2017, she qualified for the Lucille Rowe Derby with a trial victory, but was unplaced in the final. Both races are held the same day as the Dolls Prodigy.
