Prepped by Larry Sharp for owner Duane Murphy, BS Special went 350 yards in :17.740, and her winning margin was a head from even-money favorite and fastest qualifier La Vencedora. Pinon also rode BS Special in her 1 1/2-length win in the first of two trials on Oct. 7.
“Every time I ride this filly, she’s given me a little more,” Pinon said.
BS Special was bred by Barley and Sharp Farm in Asbury, Missouri. BS Special’s dam is 2-time winner Im Quick Say Bye Bye. She has produced 100% win- ner’s from three starters, including 2012 Mile High Futurity-G3 finalist Bobcat Flats. BS Special is her top earner and first stakes winner.

QHRAI Derby
TOMMY THE TRAIN
by Dillon Hamilton
After winning his Oct. 7 trial in emphatic fashion for the fastest qualifying spot, Tommy The Train barreled full steam ahead toward a win in the $120,120 QHRAI Derby at Indiana Grand on Oct. 21.
A significant head wind and strong competition slowed Tommy The Train’s pace, but not enough to bump him from the podium. He broke fifth from
the 2-post and stepped in under James Flores. They battled into fourth by first call. At the stretch the
pair were still in fourth, but they drove toward the wire, drifting in, and outnodding One Fantastic Gal for the win. The pair covered the 400-yard fast track in :20.247 and earned an 85 speed index. The bay gelding has posted three consecutive blazing speeds at Indiana Grand Race Course, one a New Track Record.
Tommy The Train, now accustomed to stakes money, earned the winner’s share for the third time in the calendar year. The $66,200 winner’s share brings his total to $220,363 and record to 12-8(4)-1-1 for owners and Jon & Brant Barley and Brad Sharp and trainer Larry Sharp.
Duane Murphy bred the gelding out of Okie Dokey Annie. The 3-time stakes winner now boasts Tommy the Train as her second foal to reach three stakes wins, behind 6-time stakes winner Sudden Separation.
One Fantastic Gal (Favorite Cartel-Fantastic Six) finished 2nd under Luis Guerrero for owner Elizabeth O’Briant and trainer Jeannette Hoover. Cartels Justice (Streakin Six Cartel-Royal Quick Kory) finished 3rd for owner Gerald Keesling and trainer Randy M. Smith.

Hoosier Park Classic
STINKIN RICH
by Dillon Hamilton
Stinkin Rich continued his reign at Indiana Grand and defended his title in the $83,600 Hoosier Park Classic on Oct. 6.
The 5-year-old grey gelding settled into the 6-gate as the favorite and he did not disappoint under Rolando Pina. Stinkin Rich left the gate 4th, stepping out at the start, but gained a head length lead by the first call. While the field jostled behind him, Stinkin Rich extended his lead to a full length by the stretch and cruised to a comfortable 1-length victory for the second year in a row. The pair covered the 400-yard fast track in :19.844, and earned a 95 speed index. Stinkin Rich raked in the cash once again for
owner Carolyn Bruce and trainer Matt Frazier as
he took home the $45,980 winner’s share, boosting
his lifetime $433,089. He now has a race record of 10(6)-5(2)-1 from 17 outs that include wins in the 2014 Jaguar Rocket Stakes and Miss Roxie Little Futurity, the 2016 and 2017 Bob Woodard Memorial Classic, and this makes his 6th straight win at Indiana Grand.
Bruce bred the gelding out of 2-time winner Miss Scarlet. She has produced 100% winners from five starters, including multiple stakes winner CB Come Fly With Me. Stinkin Rich is her top earner.
WH Kenny G (Gold Medal Jess-Designer Dash) finished second under Harold Collins for owner Robert Ray and co-owner/trainer Ronald Brown.
