Margie Bryan ASOA Futurity
HARLEE TUCKER
by Tracy Gantz
Fifty yards has meant the difference in Harlee Tucker’s 2-year-old season. The filly began her career with a couple of losses at 350
yards. Once the distances lengthened to 400 yards, however, Harlee Tucker has thrived. She is now two-for-two at 400 yards and annexed her first stakes victory in the Margie Bryan ASOA Futurity at Turf Paradise. The race went off on Dec. 22, rescheduled from its original Dec. 16 date due to
heavy rain.
A little restless in the
gate, Harlee Tucker broke with her head slightly in the air. She quickly got down to business for jockey Joe Ruiz, making up ground rapidly. Madd Dog had taken the lead shortly after the start. Harlee Tucker ran him down in the final strides to win by a nose in :19.806.
Matt Fales trains both
Harlee Tucker and Madd Dog for his par- ents, Ralph and Carolyn Fales. Matt Fales unveiled Harlee Tucker at Turf Paradise in the trials for the AQRA Futurity on Oct. 28. She finished fourth in her trial and second in the final. In her first attempt at 400 yards, she won her trial for the Margie Bryan in the fastest qualifying time. Madd Dog was the second-fastest qualifier in capturing his trial.
Sergio Chavez II bred Harlee Tucker in Arizona from the unraced Rocky Jones mare Phenomena. The mare has produced three winners from three starters.
The Fales bred second- place Madd Dog (Dog Daze Afternoon-Merri Roc), whose dam is also by Rocky Jones. The gelding ran third in the AQRA Futurity and was placed first earlier in the year in the Desert Classic Futurity.
Jorge Bourdieu rode both Harlee Tucker and Madd Dog in their Bryan trials and opted for Madd Dog in the final.
Rosalio Aguirre’s homebred RA Johnnys Crown (Count Corona-Our Cougarette) finished third with Rick Oliver in the irons. Wayne Brasher trains the colt, who ran fifth in his trial.
El Estero (Dog Daze Afternoon-Im Questa), YN Makario (Hez Fast As Cash-
Its Fun Being Fickle), and La Perrita De
Anya (Dog Daze Afternoon-Countess Anya) finished fourth, fifth, and sixth. Pancho Pantera-APHA (Decash-My Show Girl) and On A Sundayafternoon (Dog Daze Afternoon- Murrieta Red) dead-heated for seventh, and Kerwhango (Never Shamed-TB-Tinys Trinket) rounded out the field in ninth. Nonitas Scooter was scratched.

Charger Bar Handicap-G2
TRES OF LINDA
by Tracy Gantz
Californians Christian and Ru Anna Singletary met Joleen Hales of Madill, Oklahoma, through an Internet racing group
and became such good friends that they now own horses together. When Hales had a breed- ing to the stallion Tres Seis available, she sug- gested to the Singletarys that they partner on a foal from the Singletarys’ good stakes mare Lindas Dasher. The cross produced Tres Of Linda, who became a graded
stakes winner when she captured the Jan. 6 Charger Bar Handicap-G2 at Los Alamitos Race Course.
Tres Of Linda broke
very well, while even-money favorite Flame N Flash came out of the gate slowly and never could get out of last place. Jockey Rodrigo Aceves and Tres Of Linda quickly took the lead. Though sev- eral tried to make it close at
the wire, the filly held them all off to win by a head in :19.770 for the 400 yards.
Scott Willoughby trains Tres Of Linda for the Singletarys and Hales. The filly
won the 2012 Los Alamitos Derby Challenge and qualified for the Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1, running fifth in the final.
Lindas Dasher, the dam of Tres Of Linda, was a Los Alamitos regular for the Singletarys. In 34 starts over four seasons,
she won the 2005 Huntington Beach Handicap and placed in six stakes, all graded, earning $331,703. She has produced three winners from four starters. Lindas Dasher
is a half-sister to stakes-placed This Dash Flys and from the maternal family of Champion Lady Juno.
Thisfeatureisspecial (Feature Mr Jess-This Girl Is Special) closed fast for
second under jockey Ramon Sanchez. Trained by Paul Jones for Mauro Eli Zaborowsky, the 6-year-old mare won the 2012 Junos Request Stakes-G2 at Remington Park.
Second in last year’s Charger Bar, Mimi Wells’ homebred Getit Together (Separatist- Seronka) finished third this time with Cody Jensen in the irons. Dan Francisco trains the 5-year-old mare, who was coming off a victory in the Las Damas Handicap-G3.
Rounding out the field were Shez Jess
Toxic (Take Off Jess-Dashing Fly Lady), Onemoreglassofwine (Heza Fast Dash-Fine Wines), Feature Jessie Gail (Feature Mr Jess- Streakin Jessie Gail), Touch Of Paso (Jumpn- Queen Judea), Separate Thoughts (Separatist-A Lil’ Alimony-TB), Royally Sandra (Royal Quick Flash-Lady McDiva), and Flame N Flash (Walk Thru Fire-Oh La Proud).
