PAINTED TURNPIKE

Every time Painted Turnpike earns a check, he adds to his all-time Paint earnings record. He surpassed Got Country Grip a while back, and in the $32,500
Mister Lewie Paint & Appaloosa Memorial-G1 at Remington Park on May 18, he became the first Paint ever to earn more than $400,000.
Painted Turnpike has never finished worse than second in 24 starts and he added another victory in the Mister Lewie Paint & Appaloosa Memorial.
Ridden by regular rider Cody Smith and break- ing on top from the outside, Painted Turnpike received every call and won by 1/2-length in :19.755 for a 90 speed index as the 2-5 favorite.
Matt Whitekiller trains Painted Turnpike for owner/breeder Nolan Pevehouse. Three times a World Champion, Painted Turnpike has won 15 stakes, including the 2017 Cowboy & Western Heritage Handicap-G1. The $19,230 winner’s share of this purse boosted his lifetime earnings to $415,388.
Pevehouse bred Painted Turnpike in Oklahoma from High Class Turnpike. The mare has produced three winners in four starters, including additional Champion Gitter Dun Turnpike.
Jeff Adams’ homebred Jess Cuz ApHC (Freighttrain B QH-Jess Streakin) finished second under jockey Jose Vega for trainer Dee Keener.
Whitekiller also trains third-place Bully Pulpit APHA (CRM Livewire-Judys Apollo). G.R. Carter Jr. rode the gelding for owners Dan and Kaye Jones.

PAINTED TURNPIKE

Superstar Paint horse Painted Turnpike keeps setting the bar higher and higher. Already the all-time leading Paint earner, he won the $38,300 National Cowboy & Western Museum Paint & Appaloosa Stakes-G1 at Remington Park on June 1 for the third consecutive year.
Oklahoma-bred Painted Turnpike, ridden by Cody Smith for trainer Matt Whitekiller, dominated the event. The 5-year-old horse broke out of the 3-post on top and scored by 1 3/4-lengths in :21.628 for 440 yards.
Nolan Pevehouse owns the three-time World Champion, who was coming off a victory in
the Mister Lewie Memorial Paint & Appaloosa Stakes-G1. The $22,656 winner’s share pushed his earnings to $438,044. This is the horses 11th consec- utive win, and his record is now 26-23(17)-3(2)-0.
Pevehouse bred Painted Turnpike out of two- time Champion High Class Turnpike. She has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including Champion Gitter Dun Turnpike.

Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes
POLITICAL ATTRACTION

Political Attraction earned his third career stakes win in the $69,500 Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes at Remington Park on May 28.
Ridden by James Flores, Political Attraction cov-
ered the 400 yards in :19.541 and posted a season- best 96 speed index while racing against a reported 15-mph head wind. Amanda Tongay prepped the three-year-old gelding for owners Rogelio Marquez Jr. and Kathy Robinson.
Political Attraction was coming off a 5th-place fin- ish in a 350-yard allowance at Remington on May 13.
“He has always shown talent,” said Flores. “He has had a couple of bad trips, (but) I never lost faith in him and neither did the owners.
“We knew he’d be tough in this race,” the rider added. “It got a little rough at the start, but the horse has a lot of heart and he didn’t let that stop him. He just kept running.”
Political Attraction was bred by Ron Lyles and is the first foal out of lighty raced Gunsight Peak.
Raced exclusively in Oklahoma, Political Attraction has won six of 11 starts, including
last year’s Black Gold 350 Futurity-RG3 at Will Rogers Downs and Speedhorse Futurity-G3 at Fair Meadows at Tulsa, and he has banked $335,106.
Valiant Rogue (Valiant Hero-Azoom Babe) finished second for owner Wyok Ranch LLC and trainer Jimmy Padgett.
Alfredo Botello’s Ferrari James (Ivory James- Ferrari Fast Prize) ran third under Cody Smith for trainer Kirt Clark.
Knockemout Capi (Capo de Capi-Eyesa Knockout), Flyingforunclesam (Flyingwitheagles- Dreams For Lyndsie), Llano Senator (Louisiana Senator-Eyesa Lil Cuervo), Double Down (Valiant Hero-Fast Prize Doll) and Bye Byefreighttrain (Freighttrain B-Bye Bye Bygones) completed the order of finish.
