MARY JANES HERO

Mary Janes Hero scored her first stakes win in the $78,748 FL Lady Bug Stakes Division 1 at Remington Park on May 28.
Under jockey Jesus Salazar, the filly broke from the two-post in fifth. The duo rallied for the lead, challenging Roseist in the final 100 yards. Mary Janes Hero showed grit, dug in and crossed the wire a nose in front of the field.
The filly completed the 330 yards in :16.947, earning a career high 87 speed index.
Mary Janes Hero brought home the $40,050 winner’s share of the purse for owner Jermaine Jackson and trainer Ramon Mendoza, boosting her total lifetime earnings to $46,740. This victory marks her first victory from four starts.
“We’ve just been working with her all year. She’s been having some problems in the paddock, but today she pulled it off for us,” says owner Jackson. “We kept faith in her and she came out and gave us her all today.”
Carol S. Smith bred Mary Janes Hero out of 2-time winner CR Isabella. The mare has produced 100% money earners from four starters. Mary Janes Hero is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Roseist (Separatist-Black Rosalita) and James Flores ran second for owner Erin Chrisman Goings and trainer Luz Chavira.
Coming off of a second place effort in the Laico Bird Stakes last month, Ivory By Choice (Ivory James-Her Sweet Choice) finished third under G. R. Carter Jr. for owner Brenda Reiswig and trainer Clinton Crawford.

SARATOGA RETURN

Saratoga Return soared to her first stakes win in the $78,748 FL Lady Bug Stakes Division 2 at Remington Park on May 28.
Saratoga Return entered the race a maiden and left a stakes winner. She broke on top from the 6-post. With jockey Edwuin Lujan aboard, the filly received every call and ended the race a neck in front at the wire. She completed the 330 yards in :16.965 to earn a 86 speed index.
Saratoga Return brought home the $40,050 winner’s share of the purse for owner Marili Mendez and trainer R.L. Robinson, boosting her total lifetime earnings to $54,068. The filly’s race record stands at 4-1(1)-1-1(1), including a third in this year’s Remington Park Juvenile.
“She’s an honest little filly and she tried her heart out from the start,” Lujan said. “She came out of there running good, the whole way.”
Efrain Mendez bred Saratoga Return out of Johns Party Girl, 12-time winner including the 2003 Fair Meadows Belles Stakes. The mare has produced 4 winners from 7 starters, including Granite Party Time, who finished third in the 2008 Fair Meadows Juvenile and was a finalist in the Oklahoma Futurity-G2 and Easy Jet Stakes-RG3. Saratoga Return is the first stakes winner and top money earner in the brood.
Jockey Mario Delgado and Shez A Cartel Chick (Coronado Cartel-Chase This Chick) was 2nd for Double O Acres LLC & trainer Michelle Hurdle. Jess Proved Youwrong (Apollitical Jess-Oh Strawfly Go) was 3rd under Daniel Torres for owners Jose
E. Guzman & Rita Sosa and trainer Luz Chavira. Tyebane (Valiant Hero-Amg Six Point Three) was 4th, in a DH for 5th was JS History Lesson (FDD Dynasty- Tel A Story) & Karima (Ivory James-Corazonas), followed by Fly N Tell (Coronado Cartel-Strawfly Sister) & Reggies Bailbond (High Rate Of Return- Landaluce). Miss Perrys Tres was scratched.

BLAZEN PANTHER

Blazen Panther scored his second stakes vic-
tory in the $53,300 Remington Park Distance Championship-G2 on June 2.
Ridden by Daniel Torres, Blazen Panther broke
on top from the 2-post and he used his inside post position to his advantage. He was never headed and continued to increase his lead throughout, crossing the wire 1 1/4-length in front.
They covered the 870 yards in :45.243 while posting a season-best 99 speed index.
Blazen Panther brought home the $33,138 winner’s share of the purse for owner/trainer Luz Chavira, increasing his earnings to $166,916 from 37 outs, all in Oklahoma.
Blazen Panther has won nine races, including last year’s 870-yard $18,000 Walter Merrick Memorial Stakes at Fair Meadows at Tulsa.
“He got a good jump on the field, and that’s what he needed to get himself a good spot and save ground,” Torres said. “Once we got to the straightaway, I just asked him for a little bit more, and he pulled away.”
B. Cockerell and L. Vanhoozer bred Blazen Panther out of Graded stakes winner Blazen Madie. She has produced 100% money earners from seven starters. Blazen Panther is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
Zoomin Racer (Jess Zoomin-Racing Winner) finished second under Agustin Silva for owner Jesus J. Carrete and trainer Juventino Ruiz.
Rockin J Running Horses’ Jess A Hilbily Bone (Rock Solid Jess-Imaginiff) ran third under Benito Baca for trainer Tammy Kay Johnson.
Jessa Little Rusty (Mr Jess Perry-Rustys Quickid), Rock A Billy (Rock Solid Jess-Imaginiff), Thespeedprofessor (Furyofthewind-Dreams For Lyndsie), Hiclass Man (Brimmerton-Hiclass Kamikaze) and Silver Citizen (Silver City TB-Red Alarm) completed the order of finish.
