TQHA Sires’ Cup Derby
EBRIMA

Ebrima scored her first stakes win in the $63,300 TQHA Sires Cup Derby at Retama Park on Sept. 1. Under Jesse Levario, Ebrima broke in seventh
from the 6-post. The team was able to grab the lead half way through the race and held on to defeat Louisiana Seis by a nose.
They completed the 400 yards in :19.915, post- ing a 96 speed index.
Ebrima brought home the $25,320 win-
ner’s share of the purse for owner Ruben Garcia Montemayor and trainer Alonso Neri, boosting her total lifetime earnings to $138,076.
The filly had run second to Louisiana Seis in the Aug. 18 trials, qualifying with the second fastest time. Last year, she won her trial to the TQHA Sires Cup Futurity-RG2 and returned to run second.
Bobby D. Cox bred Ebrima out of MCM Dont Look Back, who won the 2008 Billy Montgomery Evangeline Downs Stakes-RG3 and Louisiana Derby-RG3. She has produced 100% money earners from seven starters, including five winners. Ebrima is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
Louisiana Seis (The Louisiana Cartel-Seis Passes) finished second under J. Ramirez for owners Christine & Kenneth Blouch and Jose Espinosa and trainer Jose Lopez.
Poise N Courage (Captain Courage-Poise N Pepper) and Victor Urieta Jr. were third for owner Alamada Racing and trainer Alonso Neri.
Coronarita Blue (Fantastic Corona JR-RC Shake Em Blue), Shake Em Rocks (Rock Solid Jess-Shake Em Fever), First Lady Eleanor (Streakin Sixes-Third Copies Yours), He Win It (Tempting Dash- Makeala), Dee Giorgino Dee (Giorgino-Choctaw Dee Dee), The New Assasin (Carters Cartel- Aztimegoesby) and Bush Tempo (Tempting Dash- Royal Vogue) completed the order of finish.
King William Handicap
FINANCIAL TOP

Financial Top notched his first stakes win in the $15,000 King William Handicap at Retama Park on Sept. 3.
Under Luis Vivanco, Financial Top broke from the 5-post in second, but quickly grabbed a 1/2-length lead at the first call and continued to lengthen his lead, crossing the wire 1 1/2-lengths in front.
Financial Top brought home the $9,450 winner’s share of the purse for owners Karla Diaz & Gerardo Prado and trainer Adrian Huitron, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $29,295.
He now has a race record of 10-4(1)-1-0 and has won his last three in a row since the Huitron team took over conditioning.
H&E Ranch Inc. bred Financial Top out
of Yavapai Downs Derby runner-up Financial Leverage, who is a half-sister to stakes winner and New Track Record setter Drill Baby Drill. Financial Leverage has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including top earner and 2017 All American Futurity-G1 finalist Believe Me Irene, who was also a runner-up in the 2017 Southwest Juvenile Championship-G1 as well as the Sunland Park Winter Juvenile. Financial Top is the first stakes winner in the brood.
One Sweet Merlot (One Sweet Jess- Onemoreglassofwine) and Jose Montoya were second for owners David Jones & Mark Cowan and trainer Jimmy Padgett II.
Ivory Noche (Ivory James-Tres Dia Noche) fin- ished third under Nestor Duran for owner K & W Land and Cattle Co. and trainer Leon Bard.
Dash Quick Perry (Down N Dash-Quickid Perry), Dash Don’t Cheat (Down N Dash-Special Cheat) and Audacious Fire (Red Oak Special-In Memory Of Touch) completed the order of finish. Nexxus was scratched.
San Marcos Handicap
STOLIS PRO

Stolis Pro handled a muddy track with skill, as he scored his fourth stakes victory in the $15,000 San Marcos Handicap at Retama Park on Sept. 5. Ridden by Francisco Calderon, Stolis Pro broke in second from the 5-post and quickly grabbed the lead and stayed there throughout to cross the wire 3/4-lengths in front.
Stolis Pro brought home the $8,550 winner’s share of the purse for owner/breeder Jerry Windham and trainer Leon Bard, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $114,346. The gelding now has a race record of 32-11(4)-5(3)-8(3), and was the 2016 Texas Hi-Point Aged Gelding and Distance Horse. He has won 10 of his 17 outs at the 870-yard trip, and all of his stakes victories have come at this distance.
Stolis Pro was making just his second start of the season and his first since July 27, when he ran second in the 870-yard, $23,500 Benny Pennington Memorial Stakes at Retama Park.
Windham bred Stolis Pro out of AQHA Dam of Distinction and graded stakes placed winner Veva Jean. The mare, who earned over $60,000 on the track, has produced 100% money earners from 19 starters, including World Champion Stolis Winner, winner of the 2008 All American Futurity-G1i. Stolis Pro is the fifth stakes winner in the brood.
Love Ta Zoom (Azoom-Loves Easter Bunny) and Ricardo Garza-Cruz were second for owner Sue Fikes and trainer Kie Mushinski.
Jessa Little Rusty (Mr Jess Perry-Rustys Quickid) ran third under Kelsi Purcell for owner Louis Howard and trainer John Stinebaugh.
Jack Ketel (Ketel Won-Sheza Moon Bar Baby) finished fourth and was followed by The Field Cricket (Lead The Field-Quick Lil Cricket), Shake Rattle N Soar (Royal Shake Em-Where Eagles Soar), Dealmfast (Dealagame-Takin Up The Ante) and Tars Tarkus(Tac It Like A Man-Sixy De Cash).
