Mid-City Stakes-RG3
SAN LORENZO CORONA

San Lorenzo Corona notched the first stakes win of his career with a dominating score in the $40,000 Mid-City Stakes-RG3 at Fair Grounds Sept. 8.
Ridden by Eddie Sanchez, San Lorenzo Corona grabbed the early lead and was clear by 1-length away from the gate. He stretched his advantage to
1 1/2-lengths in the lane and powered home to win by 1 1/2-lengths in wire-to-wire fashion. He covered 440 yards in :21.582, earning a speed index of 102.
The win was the fourth overall from 11 starts for San Lorenzo Corona who collected the $24,000 winner’s share, boosting his career bankroll to $98,889 for owner Rogelio Marquez Jr. and trainer Jose Sanchez III.
In addition to his stakes win, San Lorenzo Corona finished second in this year’s Louisiana Classic-RG2 and third in the 2016 Mardi Gras Futurity-RG2.
Jim and Natalie Montgomery bred San Lorenzo Corona out of lightly raced In the Open. She has produced 100% money earners from 12 starters, including Champion Aged Stallion and top earner Open Me A Corona, who set a New Track Record at Fair Grounds for 250 yards, and stakes placed winners Surf N Turf Dude and Im Jess Blue. San Lorenzo Corona is her second stakes winner.
Heza Louisiana Dash (Heza Fast Dash- Eyejesslovelouisiana) finished second under Gilbert Ortiz for owner TM Ranch and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr.
Heza Bell Perry (Heza Fast Dash-De Bell Perry) and Antonio Alberto were third for owner Jose Rodriguez and trainer Robert Meche.
Eye Am Sizzlin (Sizzlin Cartel-Eye Opening Jess), Lightemupwithcharm (Sizzlin Cartel-Grace Filled Charm) and LDN Jessasaltydog (Im Dalaw- Jessa Blue Crystal) completed the order of finish.
Treme Stakes
SECOND DOWN LEAVING

Second Down Leaving delivered on his short odds in the $40,000 Treme Stakes at Fair Grounds on Aug. 16, closing with a rush to score by a neck as the favorite in the 350-yard event.
Ridden by Antonio Alberto, Second Down Leaving raced in third position early. With a strong late kick, he overtook Razzatoni and JLS Dash N Fire in the lane to register the narrow score.
In edging JLS Dash N Fire at the finish, Second Down Leaving stopped the timer in :17.661, earning a 91 speed index. He is trained by Robert Meche.
Owned by Eulalio Argote and Victor Alvarado, Second Down Leaving increased his bankroll to $185,439. It was the third stakes victory for the gelding, who captured the Louisiana Juvenile Stakes at Delta Downs last year at two and opened his three- year-old season with a win in the Billy Montgomery Louisiana Downs Stakes in January. In addition to his stakes successes, he is also Grade 1-placed, having finished second in last year’s Louisiana QHBA Sale Futurity-RG1 at Fair Grounds. In all, his record now stands at 11-6(3)-3(2)-2(1).
Grant Farms LLC bred Second Down Leaving out of 2-time winner Second Down Perry. She has produced 100% money earners from five starters. Second Down Leaving is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
JLS Dash N Fire (Heza Fast Dash-Psalmist) finished 2nd under David Alvarez for owner T M Ranch & trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr. Razzatoni (One Famous Brioni-SR Rassmatazz) & jockey Donald Watson were 3rd for owner Mary G. Lynne Thompson & trainer Larry Kopycinski. Followed by Eye Am Sizzlin (Sizzlin Cartel-Eye Opening Jess), A Canadian Chill (Igotyourtac-Osceola Colors), Gunna Be Alright (Heza Fast Dash-JJ Streakin Illusion) & Heza Fast Beau (Heza Fast Dash-Bedawee Beau). Jess A Corona Baby & JRS Taylors Runnaway were scratched.
Audubon Stakes
MS LEAVING YOU

MS Leaving You scored back-to-back stakes victories while winning a hard-fought duel over La Mos Corona in the $40,000 Audubon Stakes
at Fair Grounds Aug. 18.
Piloted by Luciano Duenez, MS Leaving You
broke from the rail on top and remained there, cross- ing the wire 1/2-length in front.
They covered 350 yards over a sloppy track in a lively :17.382, earning a 99 speed index.
Winner of the Par A Dice Stakes over a sloppy track at Delta Downs in her previous outing, MS Leaving You now owns a record of 11-4(2)-1-2. The filly brought home the $24,000 winner’s share of the purse for owner McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC, boosting her cumulative earnings to $76,632. Kenneth Weeks trains the filly.
Grant Farms LLC bred MS Leaving You out of 2-time stakes winner Ms Pilot Point. She has produced 14 winners from 19 starters, including All American Futurity-G1 winner Mr Piloto and Paint My Pilot, who won the 2017 Dash For Cash Derby-G3 and 2018 Mr Jet Moore Handicap-G2. Ms Leaving You is her third stakes winner.
La Mos Corona (Coronas Leaving You-La Mos Chingono) and Floriberto Maldonado finished second for owner M&M Stables LLC and trainer Orlando Orozco.
Non Stop Patriot (Game Patriot-Tipsy Kitty) was third under Noe Castaneda for owner Leyner Diaz and trainer Manuel Macias.
